              Since it has the same writer as "Lost" I think it would be foolish to expect any kind of satisfying resolution.

                  ^^^ This. I gave up on LOST after the first season when I realized the writer didn't have a fucking clue what direction the story was going.

But I think what might happen with some of these shows is that the writers and showrunners don't know if they are going to get past the first season, so they shoot their wad on Season 1 with no vision beyond that. Once they find out they have a renewal for another season, they scramble...
