50 dollars for life!

wehateporn 08-14-2014 03:17 AM

A lot more than I used to need back in 2007

Too hard to answer if I'm honest, give most people a lump sum of money and they will blow it fast, not many people could control themselves to spend it actually living their life they are accustomed to when working.

I know if someone handed me $10m tomorrow, I'd go buy a couple of nice $100k to $200k cars, pay off my mortgage, pay off my mums mortgage, my brothers mortgage and maybe buy them a new car each. I'd take a real nice month long trip to Asia with the wife, hitting some higher end places and letting her spend $10-20k on handbags/shoes and just enjoying ourselves. After all of that, I'd be left with probably 8.5m to live on for the next 40-60 years, very easy of course without a mortgage or cars to pay but getting out of that habit of spending what I just did in the first 6 weeks would be tough.

I don't think I'd quit this industry if I had $10m in the bank, I would probably take Fridays off all summer and golf or go on nice weekend trips. I'm far too young to be retired, maybe in 15 years but not right now.

And what if someone hands you $10m and you have a plane crash or something else kills you before you have even had the chance to enjoy your crap.. ? :1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

to live and be satisfied (all cost and relaxed life), I would say I need 5k ($) per month. That is 60K per year.

If I count 50 more years of life (that is some extra included in case that life without stress will last longer) ,that is 3 millions total.

That is without cost for new house (or apartment) and car.

Now, it depends on costs of places where we live .

One MEEEEEEEELION dollars of course. Actually I agree with Larry Ellison who stated that "rich" equates to at least $10,000,000 USD. That was a few years ago so I would say 12 to 15 million today.

Why would you want to be a fictitious astronaut on TV?

I am amazed at these numbers. I could not live on the amounts people are making it on. I know it is becauseI made too much back in the easy days and got used to my life but holy crap.

Serious answer?

I currently own my home outright, have a reliable car etc, and have about 2 and a half Million invested / in the bank. That's why I walked away back in Sept 2013

I live alone, dont want nor ever have wanted a 'flash' lifestyle... So I'm happy.

(I'm 46, but with the amount I drink, don't expect to live forever)

I have a Son, who has had his 'inheritance' already, in the shape of a House of his choice, and nearly new car, and a lavish wedding taking place next month...

If anything is left over, it will goto my Grandson :)

Why do you post all day here about bodily functions then ?

its funny. It really depends. Some of these guys Im sure are young, no bills, live in very low cost parts of the world and have never made any $ so to them a couple hundred thousand sounds like a lot of money.....well, to them I guess it is :)

Thermosphere 08-14-2014 11:25 PM

I need $4 million - 2 for me, 2 for my partner, both retire and live off of the easy 100K per year we each earn in interest from a good savings account. No risk, more than enough money to spend each year and 2 mil to fall back on should anything happen.

LeRoy 08-14-2014 11:32 PM

For lunch?

About 5 bucks.. 7 if I'm feeling rich. 12-20 if I'm with a everyone from the office.
