I own some domain names with AVS names in them, got permission first, and basically they all say yes, as long as they are only promoted on it. Just ask first, tell them your plans with the domain, then register.

Some sponsors are cool with it, some aren't, and there are other variables that come into the situation as well. The best way to find out is to ask.

In this case, however, the guy is trying to sell the domain for big cash and he's talking shit on Lensman and calling Lensman a scammer.

I have a feeling that this is not a good domain to buy at this time.

He wants a MINIMUM of $20k for it, he says. Huh? And it makes about $200 a week? That would take a long time just to break even. The guy is nuts. Plus, how does one even know that all the traffic/sales came from typeins to the domain? Maybe he bought traffic for the domain or sent it there from TGP or something.

What ? The domain is used to promote their program and thus doesn't violate any laws. Moreover the domain was purchased for business and only then, because of cash flows, I might sell it and not to Lenchman.
