I think focusing on whether it's a lesser-animal or whatever you want to call it is a mistake that a lot of people make. But it's theirs to make and not considered a mistake by them I'm sure. In terms of the abuse it makes no difference what kind of critter it is. It's cruel and should be punished in some way. The final straw was when one of them pissed all over my kids, while standing on one of the lines coming into the house.

No problem with rodents, other than the fact that my kids' mom keeps bringing them home. This one is my favorite, but I wouldn't shed a tear if she was gone tomorrow. She's a fucking rat.

I just found it funny how dramatic their writing was in describing squirrels, their destructive nature and that you should immediately goto the hospital if bitten by one.

Also to be clear I'm not an animal rights activist, I don't donate or volunteer to any of their organizations and I hate their commercials on TV shocking you with suffering animals.

I just think people visiting our national parks should have some respect for the space and that includes the living animals there.

Something that I found interesting about our park system is how close the public gets to scenic cliffs. I mean right to the edge like the douche in the photos.

If I owned a private scenic overlook OSHA and a host of laws would have me installing set back guardrails, safety nets etc.

Well, actually not true. We humans are not very unique specie in the end. We have some solid edge and it has made us dominant specie, but we are not that different from other animals (depends of course to what specie do you compare).

Humans have made serious efforts when trying to differentiate from other animals, but basically, those are just stories.

I was going to post something along these lines. I rescued a baby squirrel I found in my yard - only a day or two old at the time. For the most part she is very sweet, but she did bite me a week ago. I think she thought she was wrestling a peanut out of my hand, when in fact she was chomping down on my finger. Anyway, that has accelerated her release schedule. I got her a nesting box, and will be moving her cage outside this weekend.

I once tried to save european hedgehog (about an hour old), but that ended badly. Later on I contacted expert and he said that survival wasn't likely.

There you have it, I don't mind a couple of them once in a while but we have 100's of them.
They fucking eat everything, wood, plastic, roofing, siding and wires. They dig everything up on the Yard, flowers etc... It's not a huge deal but I don't particularly care for them that's all. It sucks having to replace material or rewire a garage because of some Tree rats :winkwink:
