This will be my only serious contribution to this thread... I don't care about racism, politics, or what ever people can talk about what they want and I think they should be free too.

However, the one thing I do vehemently oppose is the use of multiple nicknames to say things you wouldn't say yourself or to toggle between accounts to make your arguments seem more plausible to the lurkers.

If you are going to say something, say it with your own voice and be held accountable for it rather than scurrying behind bogus nicknames, conjecture, and lack of fortitude.

I know that the moderators of this forum are just as aware that people are using multiple nicknames as they are that people are making racist remarks, but for some reason don't want to crack down on them.

Other than that, keep up the good work.

About the sigs. Even with rel nofollow I am a bit concerned that this is what is called as a "bad neighborhood". I have link to website in my info, that was by the way mandatorial when registering in here.

The only problem with GFY is that most of the people on it either:
A) were never in this business or
B) were in this business long ago but are no longer in the business and haven't been in years.

Fix that and GFY is fixed. Fail to fix that and nothing else will matter much anyway.

Here are my suggestions:

1 - A buy/sell rep score for successful transactions (helps weed out some scammers)

2 - Become a relevant industry board by posting relevant information/tutorials/videos. 99% of the topics are hate/fluff threads and most biz threads get flooded with trolls. Moderate the bizz threads to encourage people to come back and share their knowledge.

3 - Anyone who has been a member for more than X months must post a link to a property they own to prove they are actually in the business.

GFY isn't broken. its just become a place for trolls and non-busienss people. None of us in the business use GFY for business or bother spending much time here. GFY is exactly what the owners want it to be. A place for trolls to shout that every business is a scam. A place where people one step away from fast food can defame multi millionaires with impunity.

Good idea. Problem is they want page views to sell ad space. Problem with that is the page views are all coming from dribbling fucktards. Problem with that is people won't get any ROI on their ads.

So, they really need to bite the bullet and realise unless they do SOMETHING then they won't have anyone who wants to advertise.

The reason its going bye bye.....Back in 1997-2004 (give or take a couple yrs) its was far easier to make $ in adult, so you had a TON of characters who made the board exciting, funny etc.

There is more money being made now online then there was then, just by a different , perhaps smaller group. Those thousands of board folk who could make a full time living has dwindled. The biggest guys in this biz never post here....never really did. Maybe a bit VERY early on, but the truth is they have always stayed away. The number of people who could make a living doing it, the hundreds of reps for all the programs that used to exist....they are the ones who drove this place and they are gone :)

There are a lot of good suggestions posted and a lot that will not work. Not that the ideas that won't work here are not good either, just not for this site at the moment.

Content for currency will most likely not fly, but content for advertising, even if only an increased sig size, should be OK with AVN/GFY loosing any revenue. I think this was DamianJ's idea (trying to give credit where due) and should be something the Admins consider.

:warning You can not devalue the paying advertisers content by implementing a program like this though.

Guidelines for acceptable content would need to be determined and perhaps additional participation guidelines would be required by the authors also.:thumbsup

Open a program which could then be discussed.

So, when you were in the adult business you'd have had access... when you left you wouldn't... and when you came back you'd have to reestablish your access again. I've mentioned this on a couple of occasions now, the ONLY feature I want is the ability to completely ignore the usernames on my ignore list.

If I can no longer see their threads, posts etc then that will weed out 99% of the shite I don't even want to waste my time skimming over.

I don't know about other long time posters but I only visit this forum sporadically now because I can't be bothered spending 5 or 10 minutes to find those one or two threads that are worth reading or replying to.

There are still a lot of very intelligent people who post here and their opinions and insight are great but I feel as if they are posting less and less due to the people 12clicks mentioned above.

Implement this feature and GFY can continue as is for all I care but for all intensive purposes I don't have to see posts by...

If you are the author of the first post in a thread is it "Your Thread" or is it "GFY's Thread"?

The answer determines if you are community oriented or not.

If you want to control who reads or posts in a thread you start you should make AVN an offer for the purchase of the site or start your own blog with the comments turned off.

I really don't think AVN/GFY will lose page views because someone does not want someone else to post in or even read a thread.
