I actually had a Canadian beer I enjoyed last night

Red Betty I.S.A. - I did not notice it was from Canada until I opened it last night; am glad I failed to notice that when I purchased it as I may have passed it over.

Pretty nice; best Canadian beer I have ever tried

What's your favorite Canadian beer that is exported to the US?

Lloyd, you really need to get this foolish notion out of your head that all things Canadian are subservient to all things you know and are used to. Your problem is you're just too damned skeptical, but this one beer you tried may be your first step to enlightenment. :D

I have no idea what beers from here are sold in the US, but my current favorite is Fort Garry Ale. It's a micro-brew, brewed locally here in Manitoba, and it's won Best Micro Brew in Canada several times over the last 20 years. Absolutely terrific dark ale.

They also make a pale ale, as well as a red.

Red Racer is pretty good, if you like lots of hoppy flavour. It's brewed right here on the west coast. Moosehead is an old favourite of mine. Can't go wrong with Moosehead.

Not sure if its exported to the US.. but there's an IPA from Muskoka Brewing company that I've really enjoyed this summer called Detour. It's got a nice citrus'y hoppiness to it that lends itself well to most summer fare. And the best part, it is only 4.3% so technically light beer.

I think you can get this in the US now: McAuslan Oatmeal Stout. Personally one of my favorite bottled beers, and gives you that jaw-hinge tingle as if your whole head wants to implode on the flavor:

Not a micro brewery but nothing is even close to a nice pint of Moosehead.
