"We should not leave the Palestinian people in Gaza victims of the Israeli aggression and prey to the aggressive policies of Hamas towards its neighbours."

Hamas brought this slaughter on the people of Gaza. Hamas cannot control (or encourages) Gaza's rocket brigades to fire now during its own cease fire call ...

As long as the people of Gaza follow Hamas they will be led into death.

JERUSALEM ? Israel resumed airstrikes in the Gaza Strip mid-morning Sunday, after having offered late Saturday night to extend a humanitarian cease-fire that halted fighting in the coastal strip for 12 hours.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a statement that the military resumed its operation because Hamas rejected the Israeli offer to extend the truce for 24 hours and again began firing rockets into Israel. Rockets flew from Gaza into Israel throughout the morning Sunday, with six reaching the city of Tel Aviv.

By early afternoon, news services reported that Hamas, the Islamist group that controls Gaza, had agreed to renew the cease-fire at 2 p.m. local time for the three-day Eid al-Fitr holiday, which caps the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan. But Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, a spokesman for the Israeli army, said that the military had not received any official order to stop its operations in Gaza and that rockets continued to be fired into Israel past 2 p.m.

If you read the article you quoted, " ... that Hamas, the Islamist group that controls Gaza ..." , you'll see it says, 'the group that CONTROLS' Gaza.

The Palestinian people are caught in the middle.

13 Questions that PROVES that Palestine is not a country. Palestine is just a concept that failed.
How did I come to this conclusion?
I could only answer questions 9 and 10 of this questionnaire...

Yashiko Sagamori, A Japanese professor of political science at the University of Tokyo,
Passed a questionnaire to a group of Palestinian attorneys:

"Is the world just plain stupid???
If Palestine is a country, I expect you to be able to answer a few basic questions on it:
1. When was it founded and by whom?
2. What were its borders?
3. What was its capital?
4. What were its major cities?
5. What was its underlying economy made of?
6. What form did its government have?
7. Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?
8. Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at one time or another, leaves no room for interpretation?
9. What was the language of the State of Palestine?
10. What was the most common religion in the State of Palestine?
11. What was the name of its currency? Choose any date - what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian currency against the U.S. dollar, German euro, British pound, Japanese yen or Chinese yuan?
12. Since there is no such country today, what caused its destruction and when did it happen?
You mourn the "slow decline" of the “former proud” country." When exactly was this "state" proud and what was it proud about?
13. Are the people you mistakenly call "Palestinians" something other than generic Arabs gathered from everywhere or thrown out of the Arab world?
Do they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination?
Why haven’t thay ever tried to gain independence until the Arabs suffered a crushing defeat in the ‘Six Day’ War?

The Arab countries have never abandoned their dream to destroy Israel. To this day, they cherish this dream in their hearts. They have repeatedly failed to achieve their devious goal by military means and decided to fight Israel - by proxy.
For this purpose, they have created a terrorist organization, cynically called it "The Palestinian people" and placed it in Gaza, Judea and Samaria.
How else can you explain the refusal by Jordan and Egypt to take back the "West Bank" and Gaza in a dignified manner and unconditionally?
The fact is, that the Arabs populating Gaza, Judea, and Samaria have much less claim for nationality than that Indian tribe which successfully appeared in Connecticut with plans to open a tax free casino; At least that tribe had a constructive goal that pushed him.
The “Palestinians” supposedly have only one motivation: to destroy Israel, and in my book, it’s not enough to be treated as a ”nation"or anything other than what they really are: a terrorist organization that will one day be dismantled".

A Japanese professor of political science, an objective, interest-free genius.
Now let's go back to my first three lines...

  1. I don't post articles I don't read
  2. Hamas is the elected political representative of Gaza
Remember the Moslem Brotherhood (MB) brief span of power in Eqypt? MB were the same terrorists that operated in Egypt since Nassar's coup in 1952 with bombings, machine gunning tourist buses and in recent times violent street demonstrations. The MB was closely tied to Hamas and assisted Hamas in smuggling the weapons that have brought death and destruction upon the people of Gaza.

Hamas the the enemy of the people of Gaza. Get rid of Hamas. Stop the destruction.

The tunnels that Hamas built from the cement that was to be used by the people of Gaza to build and repair their homes and other community buildings. Hamas just increased the peoples' misery of living in squalor by diverting that cement to the Hamas Jihad military goals. Make the people miserable and they will follow the (Islamic) militants to their 72 virgins. The same Jihad that is making Gaza bleed again.

Hamas makes Jihad on Israel and gets the smack down.

Hamas wanted a Jihad war now they have one ... Too bad a lot of innocent will die but Hamas wants that. Hamas' stated goal is to annihilate the Zionist enemy to the last Palastinian standing if necessary. So, how is that working out?

It's not like they had much choice. Do you believe Hamas will allow free and fair elections? And if they lose do you think they'll pack up and say 'bye' nicely?

The weapons didn't bring destruction upon the people of Palestine. Israel's over-reaction did.

I agree. But easier said than done.

Again I agree Hamas are evil.

Yes. Hamas doesn't care one bit about the Palestinians loss of life.

Yes again. They are monsters. I will not dispute that.

What I will keep saying is that Israel needs to find another way to combat Hamas that doesn't result in so many innocent deaths.

Hamas can simply put on uniforms and fight like men as a standing army (and get slaughtered like men) according to the international warfare laws -- problem solved? Hamas wanted to have their guerilla war of Jihad. They got what they bargained for. Iran, Syria and Hezbollah, their "allies" only can do squat. So, in the face of superior fire-power Hamas chooses martyrdom for their cause. Well they have the right to martyr their fighters but not to hide mixed with civilians and like rats in a sewer -- come out and fight or die like soldiers and not be hiding under women's skirts bringing death to the innocent population. al-Qaeda, ISIS, Hamas all the same -- so how many Iraqis and Syrians died today?

So look who's back is to the sea now?

Still, I lament for the civilian casualties on both sides. It's a bad situation but another pointless cease fire with no negotiated resolution seems pointless.

That questionnaire is awesome. Based on that I think people should be out protesting to "free Kurdistan". I am pretty sure that all of those questions could be answered for Kurdistan and they are one of the largest, if not the largest, ethnic population without a homeland in the world. Their homeland was partitioned and split between Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. They have a much more valid claim than the Palestinians do.

Kurds are a Muslim dominated culture yet the Foreign Ministry of Israel came out in official support of Kurdish independent statehood ... Go figure ...

Yes apparently the Kurds and Israel are informal allies. Historically the Jews, and Christians, were always well treated in Kurdish areas. There are over 150,000 Kurdish Jews in Israel.

On a related note I have read several instances of people in Egypt supporting Israel over Hamas with many openly encouraging Israel to smash them.

Maybe some Muslims are starting to realize that they don't have to hate Israel and jews just because they are muslim.
