But really, it's okay. I know guys are paranoid around here. I don't hold it against anyone. I use this site mostly as a resource while most use it as a social playground =) Sometimes it's fun to banter though. |

So did you ever get a girl to shoot or not?
Just curious... (Not Bi-Curious) |

Can't speak for other male photographers, but I'm always so pre-occupied and focused (no pun) on the technical aspects of getting the best shots possible - so the arousal effect is somewhat lost on me during a shoot. Not to say I'm unaware of the eroticism of the scene obviously - I just stay on task. As for studio space - I suggest you look for an old decrepit industrial building (if you have any in your area)...track down the owner and see if they will sub-let space in the building for a cheap price. We found a 100-yr-old warehouse across town that looked dilapitated and abandoned, but was actually being sub-letted to several local businesses. I tracked down the owner - met with him and haggled an agreement to rent 20,000 sq. ft. of the second floor for $400/mnth. He couldn't find any other suitable tenants for the space, so it was perfect for both of us. Not to say you'll trip over something like that easily...it takes some looking around. But determination goes a long way. |

I had a few contact me but they were weird. I've been scoping the pics that the guys put up when they have a new girl, and I find it interesting the photos that seem to get the most attention are the more erotic photos and less porn photos. Seems as if even you guys don't want to see porn anymore - but it's still what sells I guess. Eroticism, and selling a fantasy are going to be my MO. |

I really just need to get a couple girls down to see if I even like it. I may hate it. I was gung ho about photographing newborns and bought all my props etc, and then HATED it. Just need one or two. My husband going is not an option. He can't control himself. |

That aside, we also advertised quite a lot at our local university campus - students looking to make extra money on the side for pub night. We've worked with a few local models from MM, although they were often flaky and unreliable. I also met several through a local urban explorers group (photographing old abandoned buildings). Adult conventions are also another good source of contacts - as are fetish scene parties (munches) - although the latter tends to be older, more BBW crowd...not our calibre of model. Our adult store friends often hosted fet-nights and asked me to photograph the events over the years - sometimes a few shots were good enough for portfolio pics. You have to seize the opportunity to make contact with potential models whenever the opportunity arises. Both my wife and I always carried business cards with us - and never hesitated to take time and explain to people what we do, what we're looking for, etc. Sometimes we met models in the most unlikely of places. I've always found a laid-back, nonchalant approach works best - don't be too pushy, desperate, over-eager or come across like a cheap salesman. Confidence in your pitch goes a long way. It's a fine art to talk big without bragging...but in a subtle way. |
You should get a website and do some freebee's at first for models. They keep the pics for your experience. Then post them on your website so you look legit. Also get on facebook etc and be social so people can check up on you and get to know you first! Everyone checks social sites now a days. I even put emails through search to see what people are about! Good luck now go fuck yourself! ;)
ps. your first year will suck then after that things will be easier! < most business start up's are like that |

I do think the social networking will play a large role, I set a twitter up for my daughter to start promoting and I guess I will set up a facebook and instagram. She's trying tumblr but clueless. |
