    Beaten breast cancer?

    We wanna hear your success stories!

    My wife was recently diagnosed with a 2cm invasive ductal carcinoma (2 days ago). Double negative on hormone. Aggressive. Most likely HER2-receptive (will know more later)

    We have a treatment plan in place: Surgery in 2 weeks to remove, take a few nodes (regardless of affected or not), 1 month of radiation (in hospital) then monthly chemo for a year.

    It's going to be a very long haul and one that will test all our strengths and weaknesses but we are being very positive and the surgeon feels confident.

    We would just love to see some more great success stories to help boost her mood. Any prayers and well-wishes will be sent to her for encouragement. With having two children, a lot is on her mind.

    For those who feel this is too personal to post, my wife has taken the brave step of being 100% public about her journey online and in real-life. I takes a community to beat this, as well as her uber-stubborn nature LOL

                                      My misses has just been cleared. She got diagnosed last year with breast cancer, Luckily the tumor was small and her doctor picked it up very qucikly. It sure was a shock because my dad died of cancer at 54 years of age and I really dident know if I could go through it all again.

                                      My misses had hers cut out and also her glands removed from under her armpit and then she had 4 weeks of Radio Therepy and she also has to take a hormone tablet for the next 5 years.

                                      The treatment today is so much better than what it was when my dad died from it so im sure your wife will be fine.

                                      I wish her all the best and stay strong for her buddy cause she will need you like nothing else, It affects all the family involved and is hard to face up to, but the real joy is when you know she is clear after all the mamograms and treament she goes through.

                                          Maybe of interest, maybe not. Squid Ink has been long known for it's anticarcinogenic value. Known to reduce and eliminate cancer tumors. Many studies have been conducted, researching such, always concluding that the results are amazing, yet the best we see is squid ink used with chemo to speed recovery.

                                          We are always seeing save the breasts campaigns with money going to more chemo research. I want the money from my car shows going to research that truly seeks to save the breasts.

                                          Does anyone here know of any Research Foundation currently conducting research in this study?

                                                  i know several survivors that are all doing amazing now. some things they all did during treatment: drink alkaline water, take alpha lipoic acid and tumeric, drink green tea and put cinnamon in it every day, use lots of mushrooms and onion in their cooking, take fish oils. pretty much all of that is antioxidant and cancer attacking. the alkaline water is the #1 thing if you had to chose just one. she will be just fine and will make it through on your strength when the days are bad. cut her lots of slack and put up with her moods while smiling and biting your tongue. shave your head if she has to. my prayers are with your family

                                                      My mother in law beat breast cancer a few years ago. In fact, she was an inspiration to me.

                                                      It was the most interesting thing. She found out a few days before Christmas and we go down to visit for the week, and it really killed the mood. Dad was a wreck, he was in tears like a fucking drama queen "why does this always have to happen to us". Mom was strong and just said "I am going to beat this". And she never skipped a beat. She did Chemo, lost her breast, lost her hair, but you would have never have known any of it.

                                                      If anything like this ever happens to me... I plan on being just like her.

                                                              I have had a few very close scares in my life, first time was when I was 16, but thankfully they have all been just that, close calls. I can't imagine what you and your wife are going thru, so I wish you all the best in health and strength to get you thru this time - it's going to be a scary ride I think.

                                                              We had to go thru cancer last year with my oldest daughter who had a big cancer mass on her kidney and thankfully they managed to get all of it - that was enough of a scare to wake my family up about ANY kind of cancer.

                                                                      Ive been reading lots about the high alkaline and high antioxidant diet. Wife is onboard with it, as hard as it will be. I will fight for her when need be to help her make the good diet decisions. My good friends wife is going through the same thing and she's already been given a strict diet, so im curious to see how much they recommend.

                                                                          I can understand how it would affect yoru dad. it affected me bad for awhile. I think this just how some poeple deal. we have angry days, but we have happy days.

                                                                              Its definitely woken us all up about health. The foods we eat, the chemicals we expose ourselves to, the environment in this place and about radio waves. We do all the bad things... well thats all about to change. Luckily, our kids are addicted to healthy foods. its crazy, ive seen them throw chocolate bars on the floor and run to meet me at the door screaming cause I have "vegables" in the grocery bags LOL

                                                                                  Family we have not spoken to much are all of a sudden a source of strength that is grand. Its crazy, everyone is soo supportive and going out of their way to show their love.

                                                                                      i'd be careful with any un-scientific, un-proven miracle stuff, diets, whatever...

                                                                                                  My kids have been that way since they were born - we didn't introduce them to chicken nuggets and french fries right away - and candy lasts so long it has to be thrown away here - but fruits and veggies never last very long - we don't eat a perfect diet by no stretch, but we do a lot better than most anyone we know - who's kids never even seen a salad unless it was being fed to the family pets. lol

                                                                                                  And she didn't want anyone pitying her, so we didn't say much about it outside the family and a handful of friends.. people that needed to know basically.

She got a double mastectomy, did chemo, got breast implants, did radiation all within a year of finding out about it. Her breast cancer was hormone fed so she has to take pills im not sure if its for 10 years or forever. That was at the end of 2012 and she has back to her normal self minus some side effects of some of the medicine. This month she's getting a skin graft for her nipples and i think tattoo some areolas and she's done!

We are sure we have this beat. just going to be a long road mentally, physically and financially (still dont know how we'll swing all the travel costs, moving into a safer environment where she can come home to. Ie: 'mold/mildew/dust in this old building') Meh, we'll figure it all out.

                                                                                                                                  One thing to note about our experience so far, while wife's group of friends has been supportive, most of mine dissipated and have simple one word answers if I can ever get to them now when they used to be all talkative.

                                                                                                                                  I assume its cause they don't know what to say.. but it's aggravating none-the-less..

                                                                                                                                  But hey, im learning who my friends really are

I always thought the diets were hogwash but they all seem to make sense.. if you are healthy and getting mixed sources of all the stuff your body needs, it'll be stronger and able to fight longer/harder to beat the disease.

                                                                                                                                                      So true.. Admitting defeat is bringing on defeat. Not taking defeat for an answer, is what keeps people going until a cure-state is achieved.

                                                                                                                                                      On a side-note, guys n gals, we're thinking of exploring the crowd-funding route to gain funds for expenses from different sources as well as making it easier for some faraway friends and family to help. Any ideas or tips on where to start? Or is it even worth the effort? I see many of those crowd-funding sites use WePay, which are only US-friendly for withdrawl.

It's like our doctor said today, EVERYONE has either had it, or been touched by it in their immediate family. With rates as high as 1/3 population getting it at some point in their lives, it's something we all have to face and fight.. and fight, we will!

I know many women personally who have beaten it, and I do not know one who succummed to the disease.

It's true, you don't hear of death from breast cancer nearly as often anymore. It's all about early detection and aggressive treatments
