As for evolving, I can only speak of myself here. When you left I think I had perhaps 16 paysites, now I have 84. Three Networks and three Affiliate Programs. A tube site is next, but a tube with a twist. Before I worked alone, now I have 9 employees. (I also dated a pornstar while you were away.) As for GFY I still do business here but mostly post when I have a spare minute or two. I never spend a lot of time ON GFY at any one moment, I'm simply too busy these days, and getting busier. I actually think I will be posting less and less (to many a GFY-er's delight I am sure). Why? Being busier is one reason but also I am in my sixth year of being in this insane business. I have fine tuned my operation down to an almost science, and have made many, many contacts. Plus I now know HOW to reach people, or where to look, when I need something so GFY is not useful to me in that regard. Perhaps this is true for others but I still see industry vets posting now and then so I assume many are lurkers. GFY is a great forum that could do with more contests and promotions. It's also a wonderful place for news, controversy and fun. Welcome back Amp, for however long you are here, and thanks for all the great advice and posts you've contributed over the years. Now go fuck yourself. :) |

How did you start in adult? as an affiliate, or did you move in and buy a program? I love reading success stories |

But this is just a forum. I suppose I'm back here out of some nostalgia for days gone by. There was a time when I considered being banned from here equivalent to cutting off one of my arms. Now I know better. The world is a big place. There are certainly far more engaging forums (non-porn related) out there. I'm on them from time to time in various incarnations. |

The saying "this place is dying" has been around for the last 10 years. Maybe it is right now, I don't know. What I do know is there are a handful of guys that are going way overboard with the race baiting and "calling out" for ridiculously petty bull shit. There are another handful of guys that make threads unreadable with absurd and disgusting pictures. It was enjoyable to read at one time. Now any time you open a thread you wonder if you are going to get bombarded with "he's racist" comments or 80-year-old men with their dicks in their asses. Don't ask me why I still read. I have no fucking clue. |

Then it evolved into the support forum for Adult.com and all of their various programs. Then it became an asylum for lunatics and kind of stood on its own for a while until it transformed into childish cliques and various groups fighting amongst each other like they were on 'Survivor' or something. Then the rules began clamping down. Then it was sold. Then it was sold again. Now I don't know what it's supposed to be. It's like, the retirement home for old porn biz people and hangers-on. |
Just to be clear, my intention is not to bad-mouth GFY, I'm just looking at it purely from a business asset viability perspective. In that regard, the forum is almost like it's been frozen in time.

So I shot my own POV amateur content (yes, in my mom's basement) trading pay for content exchanges and building websites - which I did not know how to do. LOL So I bought 'HTML For Dummies' and created my first paysites using Notepad (because Dreamweaver or any other WYSIWYG editor was too complicated for me). I went after the 'amateur' market for obvious reasons. I was adding a new website to my growing Network about once every 3 weeks. My 14th website, Fellucia Blow, blew up nine months after being in business and I went from 3 sales a day (my peak) to 30+. Since then I've gotten a few more 'whales' and have become a much better designer. LOL But as I grew I realized I was spending nearly 90% of my time doing repetitive tasks so that's when I started hiring outsourced help. Earlier this year I acquired Ruff Davidson's Aggressive Network (44 websites) and his Aggressive Dollars Affiliate Program. I am still 'integrating' his stuff into my operation, a process I imagine will take 6+ months to finish. The next step is my tube site (with a twist) along with other traffic sources I am creating (blogs, TGPs, etc). I am done with creating/acquiring paysites for awhile and am now focusing on traffic generation full time. We will see where this all leads... I am also interested in finding a mainstream project to get excited about but that search continues. :) |

This took years in my case. It didn't happen overnight. It took years to piss everything away, and it took years to go through my re-evaluation. Many times I suffered losses and thought I had lost it all.... I was wrong. The way you know when you've lost it all is when you are stuffing everything you have left into a disposable plastic shopping sack and there's room left over in there for the scraps of your remaining pride. When you are silently debating whether it's better to sleep in a bush or under an overpass. When you start contemplating how squirrel cooked over an open fire should be seasoned for taste. Suddenly, that $2 million dollar house you had doesn't seem so important anymore. No books. No rehab. No support groups. No divine intervention from god. No 12 steps. Just a realization that, it's time to stop fucking around and grow up. No one is going to "save" me from myself, but myself. I've rebuilt myself since then, and partially my "stuff", (only the things I now deem important), but my priorities are different now. I don't care about the pool, jetski, servants, etc anymore. I don't give a fuck what people think of me. I found out exactly who was left standing beside me when I found the bottom: No one. And THAT.... changes you. |

It is simply reflection of times - a lot of affiliates went out of business,so they either switched to mainstream or find full time job. There is like few companies which banks and those who stayed just collecting pennies mostly.Another thing what is lovely example how it went to shitter, how when sponsor is getting exposed for doing something shady, instead blacklisting that sponsor we have more and more boozos defending that program and even people calling affiliates as unnecessary thing and object of past.Till situation with affiliates is not fixed,no board will be active as it should be.

Trolls were allowed to chase away business people.
Now you have a troll board. You can't sell advertising for a troll board so you get no improvements or moderation. It's the typical death spiral. Swim in the pool of shit you created. :1orglaugh |
If only they would make this place only for the people in the industry, But this suggestion always gets ignored...
As far as people not returning after being banned, If I was banned (I'm actually in the adult business) I would take it as I'm not wanted here and doubt I would return after the ban time was over. Really need to get rid of the worthless trolls. 7 business posts a day would be worthwhile if you didn't have to weed through the useless threads. Don't get me wrong, Some of the stuff is good and fun. but really, Why do we need non-adult people here? |

The trolling here is nothing compared to other major forums out there, which are thriving. The trolls here aren't even clever. This is minor league shit. Here is how to resurrect this forum: 1. Put moderators back on the job. 2. Make this a pay-optional / benefits forum. Paying members get immunity from bans and access to other benefits. Non-paying posters are subject to rolling bans at any time. 3. Ban trolls intelligently. Meaning, follow some basic rules of etiquette such as, don't derail or hi-jack the thread with off-topic crap. Give posters the ability to "ban" someone from their thread only. If someone is causing a disturbance, they could be blocked from that thread by the OP. Wide-speeping bans don't work and neither does banning people for saying something un-politically correct. People need to blow off steam. Lifetime bans only kill a forum. 4. Zero tolerance for illegal posts, such as death threats, bomb threats, etc. Poster is banned, thread is deleted. 5. There needs to be a reason for people to be here. Being interesting is a good start. |

But, in the end, whatever a person's "story" may or may not be, in the end it's exactly what you went through Amp. Most people do not change unless and until the Universe forces them to change. Anyway good for you man. :) |

the problem is also so many subforums. many subforums, less posts in main forum, forum become less active and may look dead ... i had tons of forums with half millions uniques daily and this happenns everytime when more subforums added ... but, thats life, why people cry? where is business? the only one place i know is russian master x, nowhere else its alive or business related. if you want business, go to xbiz, there are few business threads, but at the end, its the same amount as here all subforums together ... why do you cry about something that is still on top and you still visit this place most of all other forums? if you want a change, start at yourself ... nothing super wrong at gfy, except subforums and crybabies :) :winkwink:
|
five years ago this forum was super alive, tons of posts and so, but five years ago you all have been making easy money by putting banner up and sales came in. gfy is maybe dying but you cant except the same amout of business like years ago when every dummy could make money in adult and you dont needed to spent that much time on promotion and so, so you had more time to spent on forums ... again, its the evolution, and gfy is still on top and still rocks! :thumbsup

And one more reason why people are missing - people dying, for example aftershockmedia and aussierebel was active and contributing members as well while they were still alive. |
people been saying that since 2002

This place is still very attractive... :)
