(CNN) -- Casey Kasem, who entertained radio listeners for almost four decades as the host of countdown shows such as "American Top 40" and "Casey's Top 40," died early Sunday, according to a Facebook post from his daughter Kerri Kasem.

That's sad, I used to listen to him as a kid.

What's even worse is the way the family has been handling things. As he slowly slipped away, his family circled like a pack of vultures. It was hard to see who was operating in his best defenses.

Not being US based, I would never had really ever heard of him, but his voice as Shaggy was a really big part of my childhood...

I was born in 1968... And grew up with that kinda thing... It was just 'FUNNY' - No 'HATE' implied...

I just think its a shame, that we cant seem to differentiate these days, between silliyness and hate

i may be wrong but i think he did the voice of the itv charts years ago each week on a sat.
