Pick up a classic car to work on together on the weekends. That's what I'm leaning toward this year. It's something you'll both appreciate for years to come.
I just spend time with my dad, listen to what is giving him trouble, and then get a gift based on that. For instance, a few years back he was trying to work on a truck, but couldn't find the right flywheel he needed anywhere. After a couple weeks of searching I found some dude on ebay with one bundled with some other stuff. BAM perfect gift.
This year I got him a shop vac. Last year it was an english wheel, but I have also bought him magazines and books about classic cars as well.

that's actually a good idea ..... He isnt into cars though but I like that idea , its a ongoing gift and such...
Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about that
