Ski resort drops nipple from mountain's name

A mountain in a Wyoming ski resort has had its name changed because some skiers were uncomfortable with it.

The Grand Targhee Ski and Summer Resort in Alta have renamed Mary's Nipple just Mary's, after complaints.

Signs with the word "nipple" have been covered with tape and new signs are due to be put up in about two weeks.

But the covered signs have angered some local skiers, who feel a bit of their history has been lost.

"If the name changed, it wouldn't be the same," said Mark Franklin, who has skied the mountain for 26 years without feeling offended. "It's always been Mary's Nipple to me, and probably 99.9% of the people around here will agree with me."

The name dates back three decades to a story about a waitress named Mary, who was working at Targhee's Trap Bar and streaked through it and the resort one night.

The US Forest Service has never acknowledged it officially.

We should buy a neighborin mountain and call it Mary's Clitoris. Take advantage of their former customers. If we put up banners near the origional one they'll convert great.
