Seb, another thought. Right now, the 15" powerbook is last-year's model, and the 12" of course isn't quite as hot as the 17". However, if you wait for the new 15" to come out, you can save some money, considering you're planning on getting an external monitor anyhow.
I didn't know that the current 15" model was an old model. I would go for the 17" model because that one has more standard options, like bluetooth and 54mbit wireless. But if they release a 15" version with -apart from the screensize- the exact same specifications, I'll go for that one. I'm planning to connect an external monitor anyways (that 20" looks gorgeous).

I have been totally anti-laptop for ages, until my gf talked me into buying the Asus a few months ago. It's awesome, and a hell of a lot cheaper than a comparable Toshiba, or any of the other A-brands.
If you're used to PC, stick to PC.
There's nothing you can do on a Mac that you can't do on a PC. It used to be different, but that has changed ages ago.
I use this machine to capture and edit DV with Adobe Premiere, and run it alongside Photshop, no problem.

I'll have a look thanks. I live in Rotterdam so yes there is a MyCom shop not far from me.

i've got an IBM A31 with 1 GB of ram with built in wireless.
Its a 15 inch screen, buts its brightness is amazing. When
i put it next to other laptops it makes the other laptop screens
look very dark. IBM makes some very nice units...plus
i love the knobby mouse thing. it takes some getting
used to, but once you are proficient it is extremely fast
to use because you don't have to take your hand off
the typing position to use it.

My current laptop is an IBM A22e. I love IBM stuff. They make great laptops. Too bad my laptop is too slow to do some Photoshopping on (only 800Mhz, 256mb ram).

I am waiting for my 17" Powerbook. After 20+ years playing with Microsoft and Wintel I am finally moving. The reason MacOsX is FreeBSD with a GUI that is better than Windows.

I am tired of crashing computers, corrupted windows installations and viruses. Quality hardware, a rock solid OS and losts of great applications make Apple the only choice for me now.

In fact, I am right now posting off a 17" iMac at the Apple store... GFY looks like crap on here ... :2 cents:

The 15" hasn't been changed since a while before the 12" and 17" came out. That means it's currently behind on some features. They have to clear the channel of the current 15" models, before releasing one in line with the 17". That could be the right model for you...
