You know, the solution is to carry around lethal non-weapons: baseball bats, screwdrivers, carpet knives, shit like that. Frankly, I'd rather have to deal with a guy with a baton than someone with a baseball bat or carpet knife.

Personally, I think it's a good thing if people get arrested for carrying around that type of shit. People tend to get angry every once in a while, and I'd much rather see a plain old fistfight than broken bones, shattered skulls or the like.
To be honest, I prefer living in a society where it's not possible for every dimwit with a fit of rage to start killing people.

I got nicked 2 years ago for assault on a policeman who was in my back garden at 3am in the morning. I thought it was a burglar or some shit like that and nut busted him before running into the house and calling the police. They informed me that the police were already at my house. Fucker that I bollock broke arrested me.

If you just plead guilty they process you really quickly and just fine you. Pleading not guilty results in a crown court case and if you are found guilty there you are pretty much definitely going inside.

A CAS21 expandable baton can kill a person - there are only around 4 regions on a person's body that you can strike them with that weapon that won't cause them serious and excessive injuries.

A baton like that in the hands of a trained person can effectively subdue just about anyone and still leave them alive and with no bones broken. In the hands of an untrained person it can be lethal.

I'm not trying to start an argument, but like I said before... Just about any object can be lethal. A broken bottle across the neck...even ramming the heel of your hand upwards at someones nose can break it and shove fragments into their brain. I just don't see the big deal about the baton.

I agree - anything - even the palm of your hand can become a lethal weapon and I'm not talking about being any sort of martial arts guru.

But in this case in some countries you need a licence to carry one of those. You certainly need a security licence to carry one of those here in most states in Australia and I reckon its the same in the UK where this guy was caught.
