Mailing solution?

What do you guys recommend for mass mailing? We are not talking about spam, but database that can have thousands of emails, up to 200k. Not so much in the beginning, but anyway, these are the numbers. I need a reliable solution.

thank you

If you have a small list like you're describing, and it's been cleaned out of bounces and such, you're best bet is to simply go to an ESP and do it that way. By doing that, you should have good ip's for improved deliver-ability, and some level of 'trust' by default from spam filters. You will typically pay by volume of email sent or be allowed so much per month. Bigger lists can be costly.

You're welcome to do it yourself with an MTA, but then you have to get clean ip's, and learn all of the other things that go into mailing, inboxing, deliver-ability and so forth. In short, it can be a hassle and requires a decent amount of patience and practice. That does not get into the cost of platform, ip's, and all of the rest of that yoke.

There is a risk either way. I leave the choice to you.

For such a tiny list, this is the right advice.

Fuck, 200 000 email addresses is now considered small list? Those are real people from giving their email when signing up for some mainstream product.

Yes. That's 1-2 days worth of data if you have mostly GI.

if you are serious about mailing, then your best solution is to do it all inhouse. Get a dedicated server, put some email software on it (we use icewarp www.icewarp.com ), there is a ton of mailing list software, mostly inexpensive. Its not hard to do, if I can do it anyone can. we have been running our own mailer for about 15 yrs. email me if you have questions, there are some things I wont post on here.

From what I know about this topic (which isn't much) most American hosts will not let you run a mail list on their network. I know Choopa, Dreamhost and Softlayer specially don't from first hand experience.

You are correct fine sire.

There is a limit to what an ESP will allow, especially in regards to adult. Additionally, your lists need to be clean.

I am also interested BUT in just a one time mailing.

The suggested companies all offer monthly solutions with mulitple mailings.

What is the best solution for a modest list of 24k one time mailing?
