Clippers WILL sell for 1.75 Billion+

When all the is hoopla is done (I hope before next season starts, but I doubt it) the team who's estimated value in Forbes is 550 mm (or there a bouts) will go for 1.75 Billion or more. Thats my guess. There are too many celebrity fronted heavyweight groups who want to throw their dicks on the table for this one. NBA, Los Angeles, First year they have a good team in 30 years, young, exciting.....its the perfect storm. This ol' Racist sure picked a great time to have it blow up in his face, haha

I disagree, the Sterlings will be lucky to even get 900,000,000. The organization has no tradition, no star player who can take their team to the championship series and win. The best player on the team is someone who can only dunk and disappears in crunch time. While the Clippers are no longer garbage they're also not elite, the best they'll do is beat up on weak opponents in the regular season and have a second round playoff exit.

The NBA isn't the NFL, no way the Clippers sell for over a billion. A bidding war among high profile groups might push it near 1B but I think 800-1B is what the sale price will be.

I would bet he is closer then you are. Not that your facts are far off, but at the same time. Remember this. There are A LOT of rich conglomerates who can easily put down 1.5-2 billion. They are in Los Angeles. One of the biggest markets in the world. There will never be a chance to buy the Lakers. Atleast probably not in our lifetime. So this is basically a once in a lifetime chance to own a team based in L.A. They have a VERY good team with a ton of young talent and can easily be good for the next 5 years at a minimum with the team they have + they have Doc Rivers running the show. They will always be able to attract talent. Especially if they have an owner who isnt a cheap shyster like Sterling has been for all these years. The Bucks just sold for almost 600 Million and they are in Milwaukee. There is no way the Clippers are worth less then double of what the Bucks are. There were 9 people bidding on the Bucks. A lot of rich folks DYING for an NBA Franchise, and this one is in L.A. I would say a MINIMUM of 1-1.2 billion. Although they are not ELITE. Neither are the Knicks, and they fill the seats. It is a prime city. The only reason why they arent an elite team or top earner in the past was because of the owner.

I think price will can be high (over 1B). Ok is not the team which will go for the champ but I think the point that is in LA counts... and Lakers sucks....

1.75? no way the team is worth 600 mil. I can see it selling for 1-1.2billion but that is it. Anything higher and the buyers should not be allowed to own the team cause they are more stupid than the last owner

Goodbye Clippers, say hello to the Seattle Supersonics?

                                    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-...-steve-ballmer

Shelly Sterling met with billionaire Steve Ballmer on Sunday, as reported by TMZ and confirmed by ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. Sterling wants to sell the Los Angeles Clippers "on her terms," according to Shelburne.

While Ballmer, the former CEO of Microsoft, tried to keep the Sonics in Seattle, Sterling reportedly wouldn't sell the team to anyone who wanted to move it from Los Angeles. Most would assume Ballmer would only buy a team to relocate it to Seattle, but he told the Wall Street Journal recently that he wouldn't try to do so with the Clippers.

WSJ: You've tried a couple times to buy an NBA franchise to return a basketball team to Seattle. Are you interested in the Los Angeles Clippers, if the team goes up for sale?

Ballmer: I have nothing definitive to say. Am I right on top of what's going on there? Absolutely I am. I love basketball, and I'd love to participate at some point in the NBA. If the opportunity is outside of Seattle, so be it. I will learn about any team that comes up for sale at this point.

WSJ: So you wouldn't move the Clippers to Seattle?

Ballmer: If I get interested in the Clippers, it would be for Los Angeles. I don't work anymore, so I have more geographic flexibility than I did a year, year-and-a half ago. Moving them anywhere else would be value destructive.

The NBA reportedly has no plans to approve Sterling as a controlling owner and allow her to negotiate a sale, but that could change if she finds a deal that works for everyone, according to Shelburne. There is no indication that this meeting was coordinated by the NBA.

The league has formally charged Clippers owner Donald Sterling with violating its constitution, and commissioner Adam Silver has said he is doing everything in his power to terminate his ownership. There will be a hearing on June 3 in New York City involving the other 29 owners.

If it goes for 1.75B other teams will start burning crosses in the parking lots outside their arenas to enhance their own resale valuations.

As a long time clipper fan since the crappy nachos at the LA sports arena, yeah remember those? They will sell for a billion plus easily. Yeah, NBA forces Sterling to sell and he'll profit at last a cool billion. really NBA? guess you really proved your race claim with Sterling. Rich get richer...

Yeah, he'll have to pay capital gains and major CA taxes, but Sterling like many billionaires hold these in numerous LLC's, trusts, and business holdings so they minimize taxes paid.

I'm rooting for David Geffen myself. Cool dude, supports the USC program, and is a staple in the LA sports scene.

Well, David Geffen and Oprah combined are only worth about half of Steve Ballmer's net worth. He is one of very few that could purchase the team individually without any partners, even if it goes for 1.75 billion.

If it does sell for over 1bil, Sterling will never see it all, he's too old..
For a sale that big, it's not like he'll sell it for that much all at once with no fine print..

As a clippers fan I'm happy about the sale but concerned about Ballmer and the tv rights. We will see. Quick sale otherwise

After having Donald Sterling as the owner for all these years and you are worried about tv rights . You should be thrilled.
