    Anyone have an Ikea kitchen?

    Until last night, I had never been to an Ikea store. It was not what I expected. It herded you thru everything they had to make sure you saw everything, then half way thru, they had a cafeteria with a special on meatballs.
    I want to remodel my kitchen and they have some cool set ups. Even saw a desk I want to get. I like the prices.
    Has anyone remodeled their kitchen with their products and if so, are you happy with it and was it easy to assemble?
    Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants

      i have table and chairs from there, chairs are quite good, table (surface) is not too good.

      all in all - what you pay is what you get, of course there is much better stuff, but this was really cheap 5-6yrs ago when i was buying it and it still holds up.

          i personally dont but a friend redid his kitchen from ikea
          cabinets counters fridge everything

          it looks good imo - just will have to see how long it holds up

              I have Ikea bedroom furniture, Ikea living room furniture and even a dinette table and chair near my kitchen but not actual kitchen cabinets or appliances from there. I do like the value on their furniture.

                  I love putting their stuff together, but if you are looking for something for the long haul look somewhere else. Ikea is not the kind of furniture you bring with you if you move.

                          Built with cheap and easy in mind. Has some applications, but to me it would be a waste on a kitchen. Lost value when it comes time to sell.

                              Yes. I installed one in my house about six years ago, then sold the home.
                              Overall, it was beautiful. An excellent product. It cost me about 30% of what a contractor would have charged to install a comparative kitchen.
                              Being 'boxed' products, you will be on your knees for hours with screwdrivers and hinges for assembly. Tons of recycle cardboard to deal with.
                              The only problem I encountered was an annoying supply issue.
                              After mapping out the many units and pieces required I head down to Ikea. They had 75% of what I needed. The other pieces were 'out of stock'. This required a few trips over a few weeks as items slowly trickled in. Things like cabinet doors and drawer faces.
                              I did not use Ikea counter tops, or sinks/plumbing. I purchased those from a Hardware chain.

                                              Some times even the more expensive stuff is not soo good. The wife without asking me about it bought a dining table. 1.2k for it. Legs are made of Pine and beat to shit from moving chairs etc.

                                                      I have no problems on assembly, I own more tools than probably anyone on this forum. My step father was a Machinist and my father sold snap on tools for a while, so I have the best of everything. I figure if I do this, I will have my buddy who is a contractor come in and do the tile work, then assemble all the cabinets myself. I already have new appliances except for the oven and range, so I will have to buy that, but it looks like I can do this for under 3k.                                                                           In the 70 and 80s they were shit. In the 90s they began to improve. Now, their products are close to par with many of the better brands.

                                                                          However, I know you V, and you are tall, so make sure you get the added height and the extra thick counter-tops to ease your back as you are cooking.

                                                                          IKEA is nice now, not compared to before. Just dont get their cheapest versions.

                                                                              I can get a deal on a granite counter, so I might go that route, and yes, I liked the height of the cabinets and that you can add a little to the height pretty easy. Most of the stuff I have re done in my place is for taller people. Like Handy cap toilets that are 17 inches high so my junk doesn't get wet.

                                                                                                                          I have been buying IKEA ware for over 20 years now ... They have furnished quite a few of my houses and all of my personal offices.

                                                                                                                          They are awesome 1st furniture where you need some nice gear to outfit your space. It is a very clean, minimal style that functions nicely. Their stuff lasts about 5 or so years from everyday use I have learned, but by then you are looking for the "nice furniture" that will make it 20+ / heirloom pieces.

                                                                                                                          I had an entire kitchen (minus appliances ) installed in my last house and they were great. easy to assemble and held up for the few years I lived there and sold the house. The hoses and clamps - I would recommend knowing where your plumbing supply houses are as the stock Ikea ones suck ...

                                                                                                                          Currently I have my entire office in my house is IKEA ware. Their desks and cabinets are awesome... just make sure to get the reinforced desktops so the monitors / daily use dont cause a bend.

                                                                                                                          If you are nearby one - You'll become addicted.... They do make nice things that you can have for a while and their return policies are really nice.

                                                                                                                          and the meatballs are outstanding.

                                                                                                                          There is a saying we have around here that has 3 Ikea's nearby - You are not a couple with someone until you roll thru Ikea together looking at all the stuff you'd get for your home.

                                                                                                                                      Truth be told, you can do a better kitchen with flat pack plywood parts with hardwood frames and doors from the boats, then with IKEA. All depends on what the final look you are going for, euro, or faceframe, painted or stain grade. Careful with the granite, lots of maintenance with the natural stone, and staining, Quartz should be the option. If you decide to go cheap, keep your options open, cabinetry has never been more affordable. Good luck with the build!

                                                                                                                                              wouldn't do it.... every piece of Ikea I've had has fallen apart PLUS it's about 7/8 real size

                                                                                                                                                      Have used ikea furniture in rooms I've rented out. It looks nice. I wouldn't do an ikea kitchen though since that's a place for lots of wear and tear. Ultimately, I think it may hurt the resale value if your home.

I didn't buy anything, sure they got a few things I might like but most looked like cheaper college kid stuff and my mind kept going back to an old buddy of mine holding a glue gun fixing the couch he bought from there few years ago. Shit looks nice but not sure it's good for the long haul.

                                                                                                                                                                          Has anyone remodeled their kitchen with their products and if so, are you happy with it and was it easy to assemble?
                                                                                                                                                                          If you and I were half the size we are...probably Ikea is a good deal. But for us, we break Ikea pretty quick.

                                                                                                                                                                          Funny about that cafe right in the middle of the showroom tour. Torrance has a mega store. They have good fish guts paste. Nothing like fish guts puree on melba toast to make you wish you hadn't tried it.

                                                                                                                                                                                      they have nice cheap furniture but they are not long lasting, the "nice" kitchen pictured above looks pretty cheap, look at the bottom drawers they look exactly like the cheapest doors from ikea, if that counter top is wood then its the cheapest counter top you can get as well.

                                                                                                                                                                                          I thought the same thing - that "nice" kitchen looks like the cheapest ones, nothing nice, just "regular economy option". And, at least in Europe, Ikea are not cheap, there are literally tens or hundreds of companies in each country who cater to the cheap market and their prices are the same or even better. So Ikea prices are regular for the cheaper end. I mean you do not save anything as prices are market prices (or even higher if you shop around) for that type of furniture.

                                                                                                                                                                                              The result is pretty cool but you need to be patient when it comes to build up everything by yourself !
                                                                                                                                                                                              Still, I think it's worthing it.

                                                                                                                                                                                              I am not a DIY guy but the result was good and nothing broke down while I was cooking ahah.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  There is no problem to hire somebody to do it. Not sure why some people think it is a must to do it themselves. Plenty of people offering services like that

                                                                                                                                                                                                      I couldn't find it (maybe ADG has a copy) but I once saw a very funny instruction sheet like those which come with most Ikea products. The first images showing the happy couple unpacking the boxes, then images of them trying to assemble the product, and the final panel was just the two people fighting.
