I don't believe Apple would buy them. Unless it was for the executive team. They certainly wouldn't want the shitty headphones, they certainly wouldn't want the failed music streaming service.

But I don't believe it happened.

I did not realize it's still mostly rumor. Based on all the legitimate business news feeds I read, I assumed it was past mostly rumor and an Apple PR was due. With 150 billion dollars in cash, Apple might have been yawning while talking deal terms while Iovine and Dre were drooling.

On the other hand, Apple hasn't squelched the rumor.................

It's all ENTIRELY rumour, not mostly. This is all based on one tweet and video that dre put up, then took down. It is very weird all the mainstream press are reporting it as fact.

And apple never comment on rumours. Ever.

hah, you think this is all due to a tweet? :1orglaugh I had read several business news stories about the deal before that tweet was ever sent.

And I never said Apple comments on rumors. Of course they don't, no big operation does. What they do do is release a PR (press release) about the deal when it is done, thus my comment expecting a PR from them about a done deal.

Yes, because it is all due to a tweet and a vid that got pulled down.

Post some links to them. Every source I've read about this, and a couple of Mac podcast I listen to say that it stemmed from a report in the FT which was based on the tweet. Love to see them proved wrong. So post away!

I didn't suggest you did, honey. You said Apple haven't commented. I said they never comment on rumours.

the FT article came out May 8th, the facebook video/tweet was released may 9th. One of the primary stories re: the fb vid and tweet was that it confirmed the rumor of the day before.

Here's just 1 story re: that from May 9th

Wanna take the wager? $100?

Happy to put in Escrow. :)

I was replying to your claiming the original report I read was due to the tweet, it was not. Those links and others support that.

multi billion dollar deal rumors don't make it to this level based on vapor.

Who knows now what Apple will do, they could easily walk away just based on the negative publicity around it.

they could back off. another rumor is dre will be working at apple. bad talk in the news could make them back away? they can back away for a number of reasons. if they do its a free plug for another company to buy it.

What do you think Dre would bring to Apple?

I can TOTALLY see Iovine being of use as an Exec there, but Dre? He is just a name on the product. (But Iovine is not worth them spending $3 billion).

I'm shooting the shit about a totally trivial matter and out of the blue you start talking wager with some sort of expectation that I'm supposed to participate, I respectfully declined. There's nothing much to think about.

I asked you what you thought Dre would bring to Apple. You post a link that doesn't mention anything Dre would bring to apple, but says Iovine would be good. Which is what I said.

You're not very good at this, are you?

His skills are producing, rapping and finding new artists.

How do you think that would be of any use to Apple. Especially $3b worth of use.

Think about it. What does the company have? Some *really* shit, plastic, ugly headphones. No use to apple. A failed streaming service. No use to Apple. Iovine? Some use to Apple to free up the staff doing the deals with the labels.

None of those things are worth $3b.

Apple traditionally buy small companies for the staff, acqHIREs, as they are known.

I just cannot see what Beats has that is worth that money to Apple. Added to which, Apple keep their cash overseas for tax reasons. Beats is a US company.
