Wow, that's a long-ass time for a video card to last! What is that, 2006? 2007? Got your money's worth and then some, especially since you were able to bring it back to life.

And the only way you can re-establish those connections is by heating card or mobo in 10 to 12 minutes. And hope for the best! |

well thats a true story, well part of it, i never cooked a graptic in the owen, but we (me and some friends who have machines) cooked many graphic cards, basically chips to 200 degree, with some machine i dont know english name, but its like a hair fan, just used for furniture and can heat up to 400 degree. when card starts freezing or showing lines or render bad picture, just heat it, touch chip with needle gently, and it will work again untill overheat.

Am I the only one who first thought the subject of this was "I just cooked my anus"?

Speaking of cooking. I recently returned a 5 month old 280X that shot out sparks just before the PSU shut everything down automatically. Something in the power regulator area was disintegrating, and the fan flung out the red hot bits. I've never seen a computer component do that, neither had the guy who did the return. Very lucky that I was there, and the PSU shut down.
