                                                                                                                  Not to turn this into a gun debate, but the gun is only going to help her if she can get to it and use it fast enough. In the article attached to the donation page it says the guys bashed the door in and grabbed a guy then held him and gun and knife point. They went upstairs where one woman was sleeping and attacked her then down the hall where another woman was sleeping.

                                                                                                                  Now, if she heard the crash, woke up and got the gun she could use it to protect herself. If not, it is useless.

                                                                                                                  I'm not an anti-gun person by any means. My point in all of this is that guns often give people a false sense of security. A home alarm, some bright outside lights and a loud, decent sized dog are often going to do a hell of a lot more to protect you than a gun.

They are normal people just like all others (they don't rape and don't call woman a whore is she has a short skirt or sexy decollete). So I don't think this has any relation to a skin color or nationality. I don't think that African-American citizens from your example above were born and grown up outside the States somewhere in a poor radical religious village. They are as American as others. Thus I still don't understand why the the USA have such an awful rape rate there...

Here where I live a skin color does not affect any rates. The only factor which affects is the society where people were grown. I know many black Russians (those who have black skin, but were born and grown here) - they are no different to white Russians. We learned in the same schools, we speak the same language, we share the same traditions, we eat the same food etc.. I don't see any difference. But if they came from another country or even from another region of Russia with different culture, it will be an absolutely different story. But anyways, black students from African Ghana (for example) are very meek here. Especially compared to the white-skinned guys from poor Northern Caucasian villages. Those could be very aggressive...
