obama: just the facts

While there are lists of the President's accomplishments by groups like the DCCC - the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee - or by fans of President Obama's the only fair and even-handed way to look at the President's record is through the eyes of an organization who has a job of being as unbiased as possible.

That's the job of Politifact, from the St. Petersburg Times. Conveniently, they've been tracking President Obama since he was Candidate Obama - and they've tracked all 508 of the campaign promises Mr. Obama made on their Obameter.

So far, as of Mid-June 2011, the President has kept or made progress on all but 44 promises. He's kept or compromised on 175 of those promises - and he's still working on 219 more.

As always, do the research for yourself - check out their full list of Obama's accomplishments, and decide for yourself how the President is doing so far.

Interesting, but biased.

On this page

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-me...ameter/browse/

It says "Promise Broken" beside "Eliminate all oil and gas tax loopholes". He of course got tremendous pushback from the GOP on this. So instead of saying "Promise broken" maybe it would be more accurate to say "Failed"? Just an idea...

A major portion of his job is to push through congress shit he promises the American people. It doesn't matter if or how much or who pushes back, that's why it's set-up as a 2 party system, there's supposed to be pushback, again, it's his job cover his promises.

fail or promise broken is simply semantics.

I'm going to call out this website, which claims to be unbiased. At the end of the day, these sites are nothing more than opinion sites. Take "Create a foreclosure prevention fund for homeowners" from that site and note how it's listed as a "broken promise". Really - because I nearly lost my house and I refinanced under the "making homes affordable" program. This program reduced my principal by half and dropped my interest rate down to 1%. How is that a broken promise? Seems to have worked too because all of the houses on my street are now occupied.

I wouldn't call giving free money to idiots who made bad choices and got in over their head with a home they can't afford an accomplishment by any means.
