namesilo - anyone uses them ?

Did you read their terms of service ?:
some very interesting few of them....
"If you contact us alleging that a third party has unauthorized access to your Account or domain names, we may charge you administrative fees, currently set at $100 (US dollars) per hour, for our time spent in relation to the matter, regardless of whether or not we return control over the Account and/or domain name(s) to you. You will indemnify us for any reasonable attorneys' fees and costs we may incur in relation to the matter, even if those fees and costs accrue as a result of defending an action, or responding to a threat of an action, initiated by You or a third party. "

etc. etc.

I use them and they are really good. Have about 100 domains there and no issues at all. They also offer lifetime whois protection and that's cool when you're into adult.

They offer 2 factor authentification using Google Authenticator and that requires you to enter a PIN generated on YOUR cell phone and that's really secure (compared to NameCheap or GoDaddy where user/pass is enough).

They also have "Name Defender" which is a series of questions you have to answer before you can edit anything.

Between opting in to 2-factor authentication and domain defender questions, I feel pretty secure there -- unless I am missing something.

@KlenTelaris: can you elaborate on what you felt was a lack of security? I'd be quite interested in knowing.

namecheap also offers 2factor auth (they send you SMS each time you login)...too bad that namecheap is a little more expensive...
I would like to stay as far as possible from any google service, especially their apps and so on...they already too big with too much data...

What part of "proper" you didn't understood
First,to use that authenticator thingy, you need to have smartphone.
Second,google stinks.
Third,it's a third party solution,so if it goes down for some reason, you wont be able to login to your account.
Fourth, third party security tools are far easier to hack then when it is hosted on server.
I think every service,no matter is it important or not, should have atleast security based on ip(where except username and password ip must match)
And second thing,it should be a SMS send to cellphone when you log in,like namecheap currently it have(tho this might not be option for every as sending SMS messages cost).
Beside that, there are plenty of other ways for security, for example paxum send a code to mail, and name.com have offline token and facial recognition.

See my previous post. Also name defender is post-login security measure, and i still would more preffer to protect login completely.
