Political thread - Belarus prez. Alexander Lukashenko

I'm just curious.
Whole media in the world says shit about this guy naming him dictator and tyrant.
I do not belive a single word media said until i'll verify many sources.
Beside it's easy to say shit about some1 who appears to be standing against all and defending his principles.

Any Belarusian here can share opinion, honest one about this guy? Is he really that bad as western media describe him?

Or maybe hes the guy who actually care about his ppl, reduce criminal activity in his country, getting as many resources as he could to make his ppl live better - or not?

Thing is i've been thinking about him few times i read his statements and he was always telling unconvenient thought that many ppl have in mind but no one have balls to say.

Let me example of two:

Remember like polish flight crashed killing whole polish goverment?
Lukashenko was the ONLY guy who asked simple question that no one dare to ask:
"Why in the 1st place whole polish gov was packed like sardines to one flight? It was stupid"

Now when conflict between russia and ukraine escalate, hes is asking BOTH countries to chill out - regardless he have very good deals with russia and he not hesitate to calm down (agains putin's will).

I think that Lukashenko maybe one of these dictators who becomes national hero after 100years, now everyone spits on him because its "trendy" it may change however.

I would like to have here in poland a guy who would standup for his ppl and tries best for his country a dictator. democracy is corrupted shit.

So if anyone from Belarus is here, share pls i would love to hear some truth not media crap.

I don't think there are Belorussian webmasters on this board. You know, it's very dangerous to deal with adult in Belorussia

BTW, it is the only country which kept KGB w/o change since Soviet times.

I know a few Belorussians in Spain - They said the regime was tough and life was pretty hard sometimes, but they all wanted to be back there - They where only in Spain for the money...

I think he's funny, but I don't suppose he can laugh at himself.

There's also still questions about the Minsk metro bombing. Seemed like Lukashenko gained from it.

If thats what he said then I think you are right about propaganda being tossed at him. FTA and TPP assholes hate the idea of a country eating its own food when they could easily buy food from 15,000 miles around the world.

I think people in the general populations everywhere, are sick of mafia style government and corporate cronyism.

CASE IN POINT:
grocery markets in Japan.

New Zealand/Australian BEEF - Looks beautiful, fresh, delicious.
Japanese BEEF - see above
Canadian BEEF - see above
US BEEF - Looks brown, old, about to go over or pre-cooked.

If there is one guy ruling the country for 20 years it is quite likely that he's a dictator.

Belarus is a country where you can easily go to prison for peaceful political demonstration without permission (which you will never get).

From most of ex soviet states, Belarus is probably doing best without downfalls or problems. They have very low unemployment rate (whatever method you are using to calculate it because there are some controversies about this). They have social help for people (for example free transportation in Minsk if I remember good), pretty good military and in case Lukashenko was not so close to Russia, he would be attacked long ago and put in same basket as Al Assad, Milosevic, Saddam..and that nice land would be occupied (economically mostly).

There is a lack of democratic rights.

Lack of freedom of trade unions and political parties.

But he has defended his country from the neo liberal madness and kept people in work.

....and from all those other things that are coming in package with work loss, or transfer from socialism to capitalism. I could write a book about it and ,of course, with a bad end.

Keep laughing and show your ignorance ...SSSR had 17 republics. You counted three. As I've said above, " most" but your obsession against all containing word "russian " in name is shown in this thread, again. All three combined together have less population then Belarus.

Estonia: GDP Per capita $23,213
Latvia: GDP Per capita $16,138
Lithuania: GDP Per capita $16,600
Belarus: GDP Per capita $15,633

Again, all those numbers doesn't mean much because of the way they are calculated. Quality of life and overall stability are important.

Keep slighting another people and countries, it says mostly about yourself.

Actually I have spent at least minimum of few months in each of those 4 countries, so I know life there first hand.
And by no means I intended to slight Belarus, your assumptions/guess about that and about "russian" was 100% wrong.

So, go back to my post above and read it again : " From most of ex soviet states"...you stated 3 from 17. If you consider that 3 countries (again, all three together with less population then Belarus) are considered majority then you have serious problem. But I doubt that is a reason, you simply rushed away with your comment without trying to understand what I've wrote, (What I've said about "russian" motivation is based on your posts and comments in other threads, not without reason, for sure).

No problem, I agree that I missed that part because of your wording. Usually people would say: Belarus is "one of the best out of ex soviet countries". Not "the best out of most".
I am not saying your way of saying was wrong, I am just explaining why it misguided me after the quick read.
Example: nobody says "Durant is best out of most NBA players". Everybody says "Durant is one of the best NBA players". "Best of most" is just unusual wording.
Just explaining where my misreading of your post came from.

Now about Russian part and my posts about Russia - that 0% applies to Belarus. I posted against Russian propaganda, occupation, imperialism and all that stuff. Belarus has nothing to do with it. In fact I say thumbs up to Belarus because Lukashenko spoke against Russian occupation and was leaning towards Ukraine.
So, like I said, your assumptions were 100% wrong and my views towards Russia 0% applies to my views towards Belarus.

Good, since this was point of what we were writing. (English is not my primary language and that was useful to read. What you explained is something I simply can't feel easily when I am talking or writing)

Russian propaganda, imperialism and whatever you used to describe it is a child game compared to "western" that you are not mentioning (if I've noticed it good). But that is some other theme.

How I see is that Lukashenko is trying to get something from this mess in Ukraine. And that something is to be more accepted by west. Lukashenko said that he would be ready to serve as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine, what would give him certain level of legitimacy. He is not stupid guy. He knows very well how easily "west" can change picture about someone through media,in a record short time (terrorists suddenly become prime ministers, guarants of peace can also become balkan butchers, etc....you should know what people are described in this example how medias and propaganda work flawlessly).

that's because there's nothing to steal here. media costs overgrown minimum wage 2-3 times so most ppl when being paid goes to pay media, then goes to loan companies to secure cash for food, simple as that :D

after half a year -one year our debts becoming so big that's most ppl decide to go to western europe for some hardwork, some ppl choose to simply hang themself (statistics are covered, but it's growing with every year).

not bitching at all, there's nothing to bitch at, we are shit.

oh really ? then tell me who is riding all these >20,000 euros cars, who is building houses, why the malls are always occupied with people, who is going for holiday to egypt, who is eating out in restaurants, who is drinking in the bars, who wears all these fancy clothes, who buys houses, who rents houses, who uses taxis, why public stock market offers are busy last years etc. etc.
by saying that Poland is poor you have no idea what the real poverty is....

it's kind of survival here, you can ride taxi ofc then in home you can decide to buy cheaper dinner - you got me?

it's never ending chain of debts chasing debts, we are going sometimes to the pubs - i know ppl who does such then in home they don't eat for two days to save money.

there are rich too ofc, but how long they will become rich when there will be nothing more to sell to western countries and corpos, when nothing more will belong to poles in poland?

to think ukraine wanna join europe - lol, you won't see it's coming guys, few years and nothing will be yours anymore. shops will be filled with crap from china and your wallets will be empty like sahara :D

ok, lets stick to the topic pls.
