In my younger days I worked a few years at a lumber yard/hardware store.
The best salesman we had in the store was an old school dude in his early 60s - Earl. He worked in the paint/wallpaper section.
Watching Earl upsell a customer was like watching an artist - a real learning experience. Someone would come in for a simple gallon of paint. Earl's job was to make sure the guy walked out the door with brushes, rollers/refills, paint tray, edgers, a drop sheet and varsol.
Hell, sometimes I saw him sell a slotted screwdriver to open the paint lid.
He threw in a free paint stir stick.

Affiliates want the big pay outs on a sign up, but seem to want to bitch about the how's and where that money comes from, much like pre-checked cross sales. It's obvious to anyone with a brain that a single $29.95 minus processing and other costs do not equate to $40.00 PPS. Especially when most of these pay sites can't retain a member more than a couple of months.
I have always found this entertaining or amusing when people act amazed there is some shady bullshit, upsells, cross sales, or alike going on behind the curtain. At no point did they break out a calculator or some fingers and toes.

You don't have to do anything really shady imo. A "normal" cross sale is not shady, upselling is not shady. You can do it in many shady ways but if you agree on a lower income per member it's really possible to do so without going into the dark and raping your customers.Exactly right.

You also don't walk into a store picking up a basket and it is half full of groceries you have to remove if you don't want them.
If the offer is really great, the customer will tick the box himself.
Pre-checked stuff is just for those who hope for people missing the text and thereby abuse the situation.
