I have heard that people who have worked as managers for McDonalds are sought after by other companies.

Mutt 04-01-2014 07:45 PM

How old were you when you got IBD and how are doctors treating it? I've been researching IBS and it seems like research is pointing to a neurological cause for it - the brain-gut axis.

Is IBD and IBS the same thing?

It is worrying that you think McDonalds might actually employ Mike South.

Hey a job is a job and I'm better at dealing with the public than most of the people that work at these places. I've also noticed that most of the workers are over 30 compared to 20 years ago. Everyone that has a job these days seems to have the biggest frown on their face like their world is ending. I have UC/IBD and I often walk 3 miles to my job but I'm almost always in a good mood.

I also gave plasma last week, everyone complains about it but it isn't that bad. The worst thing is that it sometimes takes awhile but going early on Wednesdays seems to take care of the wait time.

Good luck, Mike. You have a good heart. You'll be fine in the end. :thumbsup

TurboAngel 04-01-2014 08:05 PM

Congrats on the job.

IBS is more like a stomach issue due to bad diet. IBD is something far worse. It's one of those fucked up scientific naming mistakes that happened before people new about Crohn's/Colitis.

I got it at 24 and have been leaning to the combo genetic and bad antibiotic drugs for my particular biology. In other words you are genetically predisposed to getting it but it doesn't show up until beneficial bacteria in your gut get killed off by some type of drug or diet issue. Once these gut bacteria are gone you can't get them back however.

But I can also see that there might be a brain-gut relationship in that stress makes it worse.

From my research I don't see a cure in the next 10 years but I'm hoping for better symptom management medicine.

Congrats on getting a job. I would think that someone with your skill set could land a better paying job with an online firm. Maybe Mcdonalds is fast and easy, like their food, but not good for you (like their food). Have you exhausted your search for an online firm?

I can tell you many businesses don't know their ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to online savvy. They need your help.

InfoGuy 04-01-2014 08:48 PM

Maybe you can supplement your income by rubbing one out and getting paid at your local sperm bank or fertility clinic, provided your medical condition isn't hereditary and you're otherwise reasonably healthy.

Time to stick up on yogurt with active cultures.

Even when I go to see a doctor I do my research, sometimes you need to help guide a doctor to make the right choice.

Active yoghurts can really fuck some people up as if you've started a war between the yoghurt bacteria and what remained of your own.

Good luck Mike. Respect for getting off your arse and doing something - a job is a job no matter what level you're at :)

In that case do a thorough enema and then eat those sausage baby turds. :)

I'm not into anything holistic as I think it's hocus. If you have MS or some other disease indigestion of parasites can reduce autoimmune diseases sometimes.

This is a good listen: http://www.econtalk.org/archives/201...uez-manof.html

Quote:

Moises Velasquez-Manoff, author of An Epidemic of Absence, talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about his book--a discussion of why allergies and autoimmune diseases have been on the rise in the developed world for the last half-century. Velasquez-Manoff explores a recent hypothesis in the epidemiological literature theorizing the increase is a response to the overly hygienic environment in rich countries and the absence of various microbes and parasites. Velasquez-Manoff also considers whether reintroducing parasites into our bodies can have therapeutic effects, a possibility currently under examination through FDA trials. The conversation continues a theme of EconTalk--the challenge of understanding causation in a complex world.

Have you tried - and I'm not even fucking joking about this - a fecal transplant? I.e. having a doctor inject a healthy person's poop up your ass to re-colonize it with the microorganisms you lack. It's worked miracles for some people and is now even acknowledged as a potential cure by mainstream medicine. I recently read a couple pieces about doctors who thought it was totally nuts (and kinda disgusting) until their patients started recovering from lifelong crippling bowel disorders after trying it.

It has to be done over and over, it's not a cure plus I don't have any type of insurance right now.

Are you sure? I coulda sworn some people are helped dramatically after one application, if the new microorganisms can get a foothold they can colonize (pun intended) your system permanently. You probably have done more research than I, but make sure you triple check that.

Also I am pretty sure you can find something better than McDonalds of all places. Have you tried a few temp agencies that might be able to place you with office/computer jobs, maybe even temp-to-hire? You prolly can make 2x the money with that, at least.

CurrentlySober 04-01-2014 11:16 PM

Congrats!

Nothing wrong with doing what you need to do to get by in life (Provided its legal, which it is)

Give it a really good try, and you should rise through the ranks pretty quick :thumbsup

Supersize me?

Hey Mike, if I come in there with a GFY t-shirt on can I get a discount? Like two apple pies for a buck? Oh wait....

BTW: Went into McDonalds the other day to get a chocolate shake. WTF?? I get some fucking Cafe McFuckFaceWhatever with whipped cream on top! WTF man seriously?

Fix that shit Mike FIX IT!!

Had a buddy who went down with IBD after a live Measles jab :2 cents:

"These findings suggest that measles virus may play a part in the development not only of Crohn's disease but also of ulcerative colitis."

More power to you, Mike.

Ignore all the asshats, especially the ones that cry about minimum wages being raised that would make their hamburgers cost 25¢ more.

You have such big experience as AWM and went to work in McD? Why not to work for someone online - blog writing and all related things? Not the 2$ per 100 words, but kinda salary person, say 1,000$ per month for traffic trading manager /adding articles etc? No one offers anything here?

EddyTheDog 04-02-2014 06:44 AM

I really need to pay more attention - I thought WOW everyone is taking this calmly - I thought GFY would be crucifying him...

Then I realised it isn't MikeSouth!....

Anyway - Good luck to you - I used to wipe old ladies asses for a living - Remember that it could always be worse...

Take all the skills you learned in Adult, and start writing blogs on "How to get a job at MacDonald's", if your on any meds.. write a blog for each med, continue on that path and you will throw away the job before you know it.. stick with adult and enjoy the fries.

Is IBD and IBS the same thing?

Also look into the GMO food connection, intestinal leakage "leaky gut" theory.

Basically Genetically Modified food is supposed to cause intestinal leakage because that is exactly what it is designed to do to insects.

"One of the most common genetic modifications is the addition of a gene from the bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) that produces a toxin which, essentially, causes insects stomachs to explode by making the gut hyperpermeable. By inserting the gene into the plant's DNA, the plant makes its own Bt toxin--causing it to be fatal to insects that dare to take a bite. (The Bt toxin is also isolated and used as a pesticide spray.) It was initially determined that Bt toxin is not harmful to humans, but more recent evidence says otherwise, suggesting that the Bt toxin adversely affects human membrane integrity as well. (1) (That test was on the kidneys; reference 1a below shows Bt binding to the small intestine of mice.) This would be consistent with the rise of food allergies and inflammatory gastrointestinal diseases since the introduction of Bt-containing crops into the food supply."
