Do you use a 15" laptop or a 17" laptop?

I have a desktop but I want something else for when I get tired of sitting at my desk and want to sit on the sofa or on the kitchen counter etc.

Im debating between getting a 15 or a 17. The 15 would be great for sitting on the sofa and having something light on my lap.
but the 17 screen is way better to look at. I never really leave the house with my laptop.

thoughts? Did you buy one and wish you got the other?

I have a 15" but I take it with me everywhere. I'd say, if you're not going anywhere with it, go all out with the 17" for home.

17" Acer here.

It's only left the office once in over 5 years.

I got a 15 thinking it would be light and more portable. Man I wish I would of got a 17. From now on, 17, back lit keyboard, touch screen, no exceptions.

However this guys never leaves a house with a laptop, in this case I would go with 17 if screen is that much "nicer" as Op says

I have a 17 inch. Like others I rarely ever take it anywhere so its size is not a problem. If I had to transport it regularly I would likely have gotten something a little smaller.

The one time I actually took the 17" (recently, to Aruba) - I had a tough time finding a quality carrying case to put the damn thing in, lol.

I must've checked out half a dozen local stores and all seemed to carry cases for the 15" laptops only.

I have a 17" and I travel a lot. I have a backpack that I put it in and it is no problem. It is a bit bulky when I have to put it out and back in at airport control, but that is the only time it is inconvenient. No problems to travel with it if you have the right backpack/case.

If the heavy weight could be considered "no problem"
When I buy laptops even 200 grams is deciding factor

Both. I have a 14" Alienware and also a 18" Alienware.

Depends on where I am going and how long I will be there. If I am going to be in one location for a fair amount of time, I'll take the big one. If I am going to be moving locations often I'll take the small one.

I have a 17, it is generally too big and awkward for planes and travelling, but much better in home and hotels. choices choices!

I had two 17 inchers years ago, they would get SO hot and inevitably something inside would fry and back to the repair shop it would go. One was an HP and the other a Dell, I think.

However I've had a 15 inch Macbook Pro for the last few years and I'll never go back to PC laptops. This thing is a beast. Runs like the day I took it out of the box still, only gets hot when I FaceTime for a long time [or convert videos at high speed] and even survived a fall of about 5 feet off a shelf while on.

Lately I've been debating switching to 13 inch air but the drop in screen size makes me cringe. We'll see.

17" Dell Inspiron, heavy (6 lbs), so I don't use it for travel.
I use an older 15" Toshiba as my travel laptop.

15" for portable and an external big monitor for office to plug in, the best for two words.

17 - biggest hassle was finding a bag that fit it and camera and still went under an airplane seat
