People get trapped into board personas and the rest of the board users never let them forget it. So amnesty would be where a much maligned GFYer i.e. DVTimes, PaulM, wehateporn,_Richard_, theking etc could be granted amnesty, all past nuttiness erased, the rest of the board is forbidden from saying anything bad about them for a trial period to be decided. If they revert back to their prior personalities then their amnesty is revoked.

It would work as well as Eric's trial letting those "banned for life" return. Most of them were banned again within a month.
There will always be some folks who do not work and play well with others.

Amnesty from being an asshole?
They've worked hard and spent years accumulating that baggage. I very much doubt a period of 'amnesty' is going to do much to change their hardwired behavior.
Intentional assholes, attention whores, the mentally unstable, the paranoid, angry men that didn't get enough tit as an infant - dwelling in mommy's basement...the trolls, instigators, agitators and provocateurs.
They're dyed-in-the-wool. They crave an audience.
I suspect many that purposely act that way sadly justify it by thinking negative attention is better than none.Comment

Oh I remember that photo, seen it on TV, in the newspapers, and magazines.
The frame immediately after he discharged the weapon was more disturbing though.

I was going to suggest similar thing with one addition - amnesty would be still needed because you are not allowed to have multiple nicks. So admins should give a permission otherwise they risk to be banned.
And another point - people like their old reg. date + big post count....Comment
