Hell On Wheels: Teenager Kills Father Of Two On NYC Bus With Stray Shot, Police Say

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) ? A 14-year-old is in custody in connection with a shocking shooting on an MTA bus in New York City.

A 39-year-old passenger died after he was shot while on a B15 bus in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, authorities said.

Police say the teen was on the bus near Lafayette Boulevard and Marcus Garvey Boulevard around 6:20 p.m. when he got into an argument with a rival. He began firing shots on the bus. The New York Daily News is reporting that eyewitnesses claim the teen was riding with friends at the back of the bus when the rival approached the group.

The teen missed his intended target but hit the victim in the back of the head, another passenger on the bus claimed.

A firearm and six spent shells were recovered at the scene. Police say the 14-year-old suspect has a prior arrest record for disorderly conduct.

An ambulance brought the victim, Angel Rojas, to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. Rojas, of the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, was on his way home to see his family between jobs.

According to the Daily News, Rojas was married and had two kids, the oldest one a 12-year-old son.

The Rojas family moved to New York four years ago from the Dominican Republic. Angel worked from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. as a fruit vendor. He moonlighted at a deli in Brooklyn.
