i doubt you can hide (and refuel) a plane of that size without anyone noticing.

you need a hangar that fits the size of a 777 and about 40,000 gallons of kerosene to fill it up (in case you want full range)

you don't have either in any hidden remote location

nowadays satellites can spy in your bathroom window, if the plane is visible somewhere, they will find it

I suppose it could have crashed into the ocean but if it was hijacked and the transponders etc turned off it's just as likely to have made it too land. Particularly if the pilot was bring forced to fly the thing to another location.
The thing that stood out for me (as mentioned in this thread) is how quick they said terrorism had been ruled out and the Iranians were clean.

Yes, but I mean if you are going for "heroic jihad" it does not sound good if you kill your muslim brothers for that.

No offense intended, but you are profoundly wrong on this point.

There were lots of Muslims killed in the 9/11 attacks.

Muslims kill Muslims every single day. The extremist factions can justify anything they do, or anyone they kill "for the greater good." They think differently. They are on a mission from Allah, and nothing is off limits. The ends justify the means.

what I don't understand is why the investigators have asked the French for their radar data?

And this is the pilot sitting in front of his flight simulator:

As I was saying... there are several reports (from locals on the ground) that the 777 was seen over the Maldives at 6:15 am.

So that story seems to imply that it landed here:

Doesn't seem long enough for a plane that big to land. And even if they could land it there is nowhere to hide it.
