I've learned over the years that many big media are non-profitable (i've been working with media before i made it to adult in 2008). Most of them are on longtail credits they won't ever be able to pay full, others are used for political goals.
I've built my network of sites with my own money. Never borrowed, though I have had some pretty good start up money which allowed me to work like a year with no substantial profits before i started making money in adult.
