Whaa? I know a couple people with Hep C. It's rough and there's no cure. There are a couple interferon type drugs that can send it into remission if you're very lucky, but they've got their own bad side effects and it's not a given by any stretch. Not sure what meds you're talking about...

The new drug is sofosbuvir but there are others now. Pretty soon it ill be a pill only cure without interferon. 98% effective in the most common types of HepC.

He's right, its a new med that is mixed WITH the interferon treatment. Success rate in total removal is about 50-60% now. Let me see if I can find the article. Giliad Sciences, the pharma that came out with it, stock is up more than almost any other stock this year.

Was 50 to 60% now 90%+ Look at the links I put up. And Robbie is right. They followed monogamous couples for years and there was no transmission between partners attributed to sex.

Justifying not worrying about it because there is a cure doesn't make sense, as most people can not afford the cure. Not yet anyway.

But yeah, my next question would've been "But how much does it cost?". Not sure 84-168k are in the price ranges of the folks I know, or that the cost will come down soon enough to help them.

And I'll just back up that from what I've read, Hep C transmission through sex is highly debatable and very rare in the worst case scenario. The people I know are former IV drug users and also have prison tattoos, it's not a "omg, how did I possibly get this" thing for them...

I think everyone should worry about diseases...just not obsess over it.

We all have (statistically speaking) a million times more chance of getting in the car and getting killed. Yeah, we can wear a seat belt. But still, if you're on the highway doing 70 miles per hour and the front tire blows in crowded highway traffic...you're probably dead.

Even though I know that, I don't worry about it all the time or post scary threads up about it like some people do about disease here on GFY.

Also, it still is not shown that Hep C is transmitted via sex at all (though I suppose if I were to rub open bleeding wounds with an infected girls open bleeding infected wound while fucking her, you could TECHNICALLY say I got it while having sex).

Using the logic of some folks on the subject, I guess if I had sex with a person who had the flu I would catch the flu. And then they would claim that you get the flu from sex too. lol

The other thing I wonder about...now that we have "ObamaCare" here in the U.S., doesn't that mean that the jacked up cost for that pill would be covered by insurance anyway and becomes a non-issue?

Now that we are moving toward socialized medicine, the jacked up (for Americans by the greedy pharma companies) price no longer means anything. It's just a number that they pull out of their ass. The insurance covers it (and of course they don't actually pay that price anyway).

Am I missing anything on this subject?

Nope. You pretty much nailed it. The way I look at it is that life is a full contact sport. Your gonna take some bumps and bruises along the way. Be smart of course but no need to exaggerate it.

I havent worked with chargeback companies but I do know you can fight them yourself with a merchant account or use CCBill. They don't charge you a fee, they just debit the purchase amount.
