Premiership (Football Season) Kicks-Off In Less Than 2 Weeks...

Who will be Champions this year?

United under Moyes?
Chelsea now that Mourinho has returned?
Man City under Pellegrini?
Not one of the big 3?

I think Liverpool will have a decent season and although I don`t think they will win the Premiership, I think their odds (33/1) are decent value.

Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs were all co-favorites about a month ago. After several pre-season games, Chelsea are now favorites. BTW, Crystal Palace are 10,000/1 odds to win the EPL, which might be worth a few quid if you're a die-hard Palace fan.

And yes, Liverpool are shite, and they have to do better than finishing in 7th place, which is what they managed last season. And their manager, Brendan Rodgers, is a complete twat.

Better chance of winning the lottery than Palace winning the title. Same with promoted Hull who certainly did look shite the few times I saw them last year.

Liverpool...decent pre-season with a good young manager who likes the passing game. I think they can have a decent season.

I see City and Chelsea running away with it. United could actually finish out of the top 4 unless they retain and re-motivate Rooney or buy somebody world class.

Ferguson out of retirement by January to try to save their season? I would love it

Supporters up and down the country (including half of Manchester) would be celebrating if Utd finished out of the Champions League spots.

Okay I live in Toronto, Eastern Standard Timezone.

If I want to follow the EPL this season, what would I have to do? Like are all the games on Saturday morning for me? I think?

When does the season end?

I'd like to really get into it for one season and see how it goes. I do this with US football sometimes too. I'm either watching it heavily, or I don't watch at all. I need to know the basics of how the EPL works to get a handle on it I think.

Chelsea is one of my biggest favs. Cool to see Mourinho back.

And hopefully Arsenal can surprise.

What about the spurs? No discussion worth anymore after Bale?

Socks, most of the English Premier League is played on Saturdays at 15:00 UK time (not broadcast live in the UK but some of the foreign TV networks do show it live).
Lots of games are broadcast on SKY/ESPN on Saturday evening/Sundays/Monday evening and mid-week too.

Go to the bbc.co.uk sport and you will get all the fixtures. In fact, go to soccerway.com and you will find masses of info there on world football.

Watching it online - you can find it at many of the streaming sites (many/most are not licensed to show it).

Spurs have just paid huge money for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado (£26 million was a figure quoted).

As good as Bale is, the £80 million + being quoted for him is madness imo.

Yeah 80 million is too crazy. But in england or spain it´s another financial dimension.
When I compare it with my league in germany. Only the fucking munichs and maybe dortmund are able to spent lots of money in players like alcantara, mario götze or martinez last year.

Not a huge fan of "the special ones" return (I dont dislike him, but Roman sacked him for a reason!), but a die hard blues fan, so bring on the title. I think we are in it with a shot this year as long as either:

- we get Rooney
- Torres fires up again
- Lukaku knocks our socks off

Sadly, we are the team best placed to handle and deal with manager changes given our recent history, so a new manager wont make a shred of difference to the quality and strength of our team, whereas Fergusson's loss will likely cause problems at ManU for 2-3 years and City, well, City are where Chelsea were 6 years ago, I really don't think they can hold it together more than 1 more year.

Going to be interesting. Fucking great to finally have football back.

Agree with every word of that aside from you not being a fan of Mourinho - not that that's wrong, I just think he's a great manager, and will make a title-deciding difference.

Spurs fan here, so top 4 would be great, and an achievement for us, to anyone who actually knows about football

for me I'll go with the following:

chelsea
man c
man u
Spurs/woolwich

gonna be another good one, and roll on Kick Off

Chelsea are looking good thats for sure with Mata, Hazzard, Oscar and possibly Rooney upfront that will be one hell of an attacking force. The special ones return will rely more on his defence & his tactics as his past seasons in charge we never with him playing attacking and attractive football. Out of all the clubs he has taken charge of he has never finished outside of the top 2!

Man City may have a new manager but the signings they have made Fernandinho, Navas, Jovetic & Negredo will for sure give them a real team to look and do better than last season. I have a feeling that Aguero will have a strong season this year! Lots of pressure on Pellegrini after the money they spent and the sacking of Mancini for not winning anything. Being unseeded in the champions league will be another tough test to get out of the group stages.

Man United are likely to lose Rooney but they still have Van Persie who if injury free will be in contention for the golden boot. Moyes has tried to buy two world class midfielders but the first went to Germany and Fabregas will not be moving this season. Without Fergie, loosing Rooney and no new faces it could be a tough year for them.

Arsenal with Suarez could be a real force and could be up there come the end of the season. There midfield with Wilshire, Cazorla, Walcott and the Ox is defiantly one of the best midfields in the league this year. They do need to strengthen at the back so if they can do this it could be finally a none nail bitting season!

Tottenham have made 2 record signings so far but if Bale leaves it will be hard to see how they can recover even if they have 85+ million to spend. If Arsenal dont improve their team with a couple of strong players even without Bale and if the money from his sale goes back into the team they could push Arsenal again for the top 4.

Liverpool have done nothing but waste money for the past few years buying over hyped english players and are paying for it now. Not getting into the champions league looks like their star striker will force a way out of the club leaving them a similar hole as Tottenham. cant see them getting anywhere close to a top for finish.

Mourinho makes things fun.
Arsenal.. one year they´re gonna get it right, they get hammered with injuries.
City, cant see it. Peligrini was great at villareal, but not so great at madrid. good in Europe though, so maybe they´ll target that.
Utd wont be as good under Moyes.

So it´s going to be a great season. But I think Chelsea will win, they´ve built an amazing team.

Games are shown live but outside of the traditional 15:00 kick-offs. Just to do with the licensing/contractual agreements (they are permitted to show x matches per season). BT Sport have also jumped on the bandwagon and secured the rights to some 38 matches over the upcoming season.

Since Mourinho left Chelsea, every time the team would fire another manager my ex-pat soccer buddies would text me asking, "Who do you want as the new manager?" And I'll always text back the same thing: "Jose".

If Chelsea can secure a really top end Striker, I think they will win the league easily. Their midfield is packed with creativity, they just need someone now to stand up top and put the ball in the net, my personal opinion is that Rooney isn't that man for that job, he likes to be too involved in the link up play, they need more of a target man that will stay in the box.

United looked weak at times last season even tho they won the league, lets be honest if City and Chelsea were stronger, they might not have won it. They've lost Scholes and their leader of the last 26 years, some of their players are getting older now and they haven't really brought in the big name signings they hoped. If they get Fabregas, that is a great start but I feel they need a new centre half, Vidic is injury prone and Ferdinand is almost 35, anyone with pace is gonna give him a tough time.

City have spent big and brought in some top players, it'll take time for them to gel and get used to the new managers way of playing but I think they will be a real top team this season.

Arsenal have promised to spend big and bring in top players but so far have missed all their targets, I really don't see them being much of a threat, they'll start well but as usual they won't go the distance when it matters.

Socks - Get Sportsnet World, I think the rest of the games are shown between Sportsnet and TSN.

Sportsnet world replays most matches shown live on all Sportsnet channels (including world). TSN rarely replays them.

8am is the earliest kick-off for EST AFAIK.

Also is there anyone doing a fantasy football league on here? Id be interested in joining a league on http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ if you are. It's good for the banter, Cheers!

Aug 18th can't come soon enough! Can't wait for the first game and when they introduce Jose Mourinho at the Bridge! The place is going to erupt.

I'd like to really get into it for one season and see how it goes. I do this with US football sometimes too. I'm either watching it heavily, or I don't watch at all. I need to know the basics of how the EPL works to get a handle on it I think.
Sportsnet shows alot of games on Saturday and Sundays. Starts at 10am

Too bad we'll just be paying it out to Ashley! I might just copy his entire team lol.
Looking forward to this year and happy to step up with a sponsorship, now we have some real motivation to do well this season... and I have an excuse for when I don't win haha!

I'm running a Fantasy league for the 4th year in a row. It is a ton of fun and the generous folks at Traffic Force are sponsoring this year.

Hit me up for more details!
