Our government has a secret email system?

So some people were doing work on one thing while they should have been doing another?..

I don't live in Wisconsin so it's new news to me... He's running around hiding shit, using secret email systems, and half of his staff is in prison protecting him.

Intranet email isn't 'secret email' - Its a standard in loads of places as you say - The thread title makes it sound cloak and dagger and conspiratorial...

I was serious when I replied above about it being gmail, they used unofficial gmail and yahoo email accounts to communicate. That's the secret email "system".

How is that a surprise. Lots of big companies use their own internal mail systems. I would have expected especially governments to do that too.

Yes but they were doing outside of the government system so in the even anything was released to the public the truth would remain hidden. Not only was it exposed, but seems three of his staff went to jail over it.

So they don't have a secret email system, they just email outside of the government email system to hide things from the people who elected them.

Secret, doesn't mean some underground govt email system, it just means non publicly disclosed email accounts. All elected officials and their staff by law have to use known public email accounts and they have to keep the emails as public record. Doesn't mean they are open for anyone to read, but they have to be obtainable by judge order.

By using undisclosed email,accounts they were breaking the law and likely trying to circumvent public access in order to hide shady shit and under the table deals. This isn't a "simple" mistake, my cousin is a staffer for a very well known congressman and it's something all staffers are certainly made aware of and they know to follow the law.

If Walker's staffers were doing this, they certainly knew they were breaking the law and you know damn well they didn't do it on their own. It's very obvious that something like this is just a way for the guys in charge to claim they knew nothing, which of course Scott Walker will claim. He will also be lying it ass off when he says this.

The other issue, is staffers are not aloud to do campaign work on the govt's dime. That means they can not do work on the campaign while the tax payers are paying their salaries. This means if he was using staffers to make campaign calls or what ever while they were getting a govt paycheck they were breaking the law. They have to be off the govt's time clock while doing campaign work.

It seems to me they intentionally used third party email to hide what they were doing. Keep in mind here that people went to prison because of what they did, not the fact that they were using gmail.

That's like avoiding the phone in the governor's office and using a burner phone that no one can trace.
