    HTML 5 Super Mario Bros!

This isn't that new, but fun to play around with.

Download the zip file on github, unzip, and click on index.html or mario.html for some fun.

Play any level, you don't even have to put in cheat codes!

lol just seeing the pictures brings back memories of playing that damn game and taking 50 tries to get past one jump. When I beat it I expected to be on the news or something

I'm glad people are enjoying this

-glad to see if this is the first you've seen the html5 version

                      and...

-glad to put a productivity roadblock in your day.

With hardware and accessibility to tools you'll see a lot more homebrew projects like this come about.

That's great, I'd love to see Mario 2 and 3 get the same treatment though both are a bit more complex. How they got around copyright for this (if they even did) I have no idea.

I heard about this through the http://blog.teamtreehouse.com/ site on their weekly podcast. The game has been around for several months.

The owner did get DMCA'ed by Nintendo after getting well over 1 million visits to his sites.
                            Copyright, I would say yes.

The game is a clone. Doom was converted into flash (the first episode which is freeware and the music was copyright so it is not included).
For the sake of age, being a classic, I give it a pass however.

Clones are made all the time that are just copying functionality, Linux (completely free) is essentially a Unix clone. The code isn't the same but provides (much more now) the same functionality.

Even as far back as dreamcast friends of mine would have a DVD disc that had every Nintendo game ever made on it.
Funny how I would beg my mom when I was 6-7 to get me a shitty Nintendo game I had no idea about for $50-70, she declined me thank god!
Playing some of the old games I can't believe how much they sold for considering how low value they are. Super Mario 2 and 3 are good games, and worth the price, not many games were though.
