Regarding the Target attack !!!

Read more here

http://krebsonsecurity.com/2014/01/a...lware-part-ii/

It can't be just a 17 years old Russian kid. I think it is an entire organization and as many (also in the link) suggest there could be someone from the inside also. The malware and the attack was specifically designed to "target" Target stores.

I think we can assume that there will be an intense chargeback period

This is an interesting lecture also http://krebsonsecurity.com/2013/12/w...s-from-target/

Also I found this comment interesting

"You can cancel your card now, or you can do it after there is fraud, either way, same process. Based on the carding forums it looks like he may be moving as many as 50,000 cards a day, so its only a matter of time before all the numbers are out there and fraudulent charges hit."

I read this morning the attack wasn't directed at Target only, another company was hit, others can still be hit, and this software was sold to over one hundred people.

This is going to be a huge problem in the future. If our money isn't secure... It will be a massive problem.

The problem this time is that there weren't hacked just 5 - 6k accounts but rather millions ... On the other hand, reading through the comments I've seen that many people just cancel the card and get another one without much fuss.
But still ...40 million accounts...

Watching people on my Facebook and other social media responding to the attack and then Target's various damage control efforts has been full of lessons for those that deal with PR and customer service. Particularly for online brands.

When they sent out emails with the free credit score offer, I watched more than one long thread on Facebook where people debated if it was another scam or phishing attempt. Which wasn't helped by the company trying to repair things by asking people to give them their information when the theft of information was the issue in the first place.
