The FBI’s “Hate Crime Statistics” for 1999 show that 2,030 whites were arrested that year for “hate crimes” against blacks, compared to 524 blacks who were arrested and charged with a “hate crime” against whites.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, blacks make up 12.8 percent of the population — or about 35.4 million of the country’s 280 million people — so, given the arrest rate versus population percentage, the data indicates that blacks are one-and-a-half times more likely to be arrested for a “hate crime” than whites.

He never tried to say it was a black only thing, he simply commented on the fact they receive it. And while blacks do get charged with hate crimes they are often not applied when they should be (e.g. Reginald Denny's attackers).

A hate crime is when someone commits a crime against someone else only because of their color (etc).

I was mugged by a black man once, but it wasn't a hate crime - he didn't mug me because he was black and I was a white. However, if he stated in pubic he was going to beat down whitey that night and then craved the word "cracker" into my chest, that's a hate crime.

I think he was pointing out what most of the posters in this thread are saying, that uneven application of the laws is a bad thing. Even Quanell X is saying this.

No one is doing that now otherwise there would be less crime. I dont care what race he or she is, hitting an 80 year old man is wrong.
