the head gaskets in my Ram went a month ago, so I picket up a new one, I'd always driven "work" trucks, so I took every option available this time. part of me would like to drive a nice car, but I can't help it, I am a truck guy and always will be.
A mate has one of those (laramie?) that is used as his tow car. I have to say, it is the best car I have ever towed with. Amazing no matter how much weight is on the trailer behind (huge enclosed with car + tools + tyres + fuels etc). So much power it is insane.

I think people are talking about design of the car when referring to it as chicks car.
Well I know for certain my wife loves the looks of the car. And with the top down I like it too. I drove it quite a bit this summer and it is a car I can easily spend the day in ,unlike my lambo. After about 2 hours of driving it I am ready to be done. It's great for going fast on twisty roads, but is really lacking in the comfort department.

I would rather buy a $15k car that's clean and fix it up. I have never owned a new car and I never will. It's not about cost, it's about the amount of money you lose on one. My pickup, I paid 7k for 8 years ago, it now has 170k miles on it and still looks like a new pickup, I get compliments on it all the time. My Harley was only $8600 and had only 18k miles on it and I get girls wanting to go for rides all the time.
I would rather buy a beat up 70 Dodge Charger with a straight body, rebuild the motor, paint the car and get some good wheels than buy a new Charger.
In a couple years, when things settle down, I'm going to get a project car and build something. I grew up building cars and I have all the tools!
I wouldn't buy a new Harley right now because of all the changes they just made, maybe in a couple years
Vendzilla and I finally agree with something. I guess it was bound to happen.
Anyone can buy a new car. Great, you walked into a dealership and got a loan. Maybe you even paid cash. All that tells us is that you have a job.
I am not a mechanic, and I struggle with basic things. I didn't do everything on my own; I had a local shop do a lot of the work. It was a two year project and still not done.
But now I am looking towards my next project. I wanted an older Firebird, but I keep going back to Mustangs - I wouldn't mind a convertable GT....
Only one in existence with a Imola Red Top custom ordered "Individual" from the factory.
I was reading an article about factory in Munich, where they build 3 series. It was said that every car is individual and only like 3 times in a year an exact same configuration is being built.

The "Individuals" can range from small cosmetic upgrades like badges to full scale upgrades like racing exhausts, custom paint job, convertible tops, etc.. Mine took about 4 months to arrive after I ordered it. It has other individual pieces like the custom Racing Exhaust and Quad Projector Headlights. The Quad, there are about 4 of those around, 3 in the US, and mine. Here's how BMW market's the "Individual". Welcome to BMW Individual.
The combination of aspirations and perfection.
The higher one's own aspirations are, the more difficult it is to achieve them. Since genuine exclusiveness is extremely rare. It is exactly this characteristic that makes BMW Individual so unique, since the range of materials to choose from is more select than for any other vehicle. By perfectly combining all details, BMW Individual meets even the highest expectations: the most exclusive way to drive BMW.
But as for the Imola Red Top, a search through the entire BMW database turned up only 1 Imola Red Top M3 with my VIN
my biz partner has a similar M3 convertible - nice car
(i liked my Porsche better though ;) )
Thanks MaDalton, they are fun cars to drive for sure especially with the SMG gearbox.
Love Porsches too I had a 97 993 Turbo S up until 3 years ago when I sold it, I still miss it to this day

well - i think the SMG is the worst gearbox ever (besides the Smart car automatic gearbox)
unless you shift manually and carefully, you look like being in a rap concert everytime it shifts
and replacing a 993 Turbo S with a BMW is blasphemy

I agree on the SMG. I had one in the M3 I owned.. Harsh and loud.
The Smart..I disagree. I like the Smart. The secret to making smooth shifts is leave it in automatic and keep the gas pedal floored until you get to the speed you want.
I regret selling the arena red 993TT I owned too. However, I didn't trade it for a BMW. I kept it for a while after I bought a Lambo and ultimately sold it because I never drove it.
I still have the 993 carrera cabriolet.

in all fairness - i have only driven the first generation of Smarts...
I ride one of these Loaded boards as much as possible and sometimes I take my neighbor's horse (I am not joking) up to the local store that is 2 miles away.
For fishing I have a set up just like this. Perfect for the pristine moutain lakes that do not allow gas motors. My brother has the tricked out ski boats so no need to deal with that. He is actually jealous of my little trout fishing boat
We took it here this summer and there were bald eagles soaring over us as we cought our limit of trout.
I drive a toyota truck and nothing to brag about. It does the job and is simple.
hell yeah there is. im not the richest or the best, just got the 442 which gets me where im going. post ur stuff up shap. this aint no whos got the biggest dick thread. ya got what ya got.
Aren't you losing TONS of money on depreciation like that? I actually never buy brand new cars from the dealer. I'd rather pay 30% less for a 2 year old one - still works fine, still looks great, you'd never have to put the 30% price difference in it in repairs anyways. IMHO All you really gain otherwise is that you get to be the first to fart on the seats
I don't think I'll ever buy new again. I bought my new Jeep used and saved myself $20k. And my Jeep is still like brand new.
I was thinking about this earlier this morning. Dollar for dollar, my beat up old truck has provided me with the best value. Including the purchase price and the paint work, I spent less than $8k. The last new car I bought I most likely lost $8k the moment I drove it off the lot.

I say that every time too. When we left Canada last year I took a huge hit on my 3 cars. It sucked bad. I thought I wouldn't do it again. Got here and bought 1st vehicle and went used. Then when we bought 2nd it started as used (3 or 4 years old) then became one year old then the price difference made no sense not to go new. Back at square one FML LOL

And if you value things like reliability a decent warranty and the latest in technology it's the only way to go. I don't think I ever bought a used car that didn't need money put into almost immediately.
I made the transistion to only new about 15 years ago and have never regretted it. I like driving, so I don't have any second thoughts about paying a bit more upfront.

Yeah I hear that. That's why we did it. Besides we are slowly jumping into your league Looking forward to getting it in March just in time to do the gumball rally this year.
It's funny when I was 17 to 25 I had 100s of pics of all my cars.
Now all I have is a picture at the gas station of my GT500 on the way home from the dealer to text a few friends. Think I had 2 of my M6 from before that lol
Guess I used to be more active in car forums and stuff when I was younger... no real reason to take pics now...
Now I have tons of pictures of our trees and reef tanks though :P
<--- Getting old and lame
I feel the same way....bought a 2014 Z4 BMW hardtop convertible 3 months ago and i dont have a single picture of it.
