Bloomberg surveyed a bunch of Americans and discovered that 42% could correctly identify what bitcoin is.

1 dollar will only ever be worth 1 dollar.

http://gawker.com/5783852/nearly-one...e-president-is I watched the Bloomberg video - but I'm highly suspect about the findings - although I do believe the people who thought Bitcoins were an iPhone app or xBox game. |
I think there is money to be made here, its all about timing

A bit coin has no value if it can't be used or exchanged for something else, but even if it could be used anywhere, it would still be tied to the value of the US dollar, for as long as the dollar is the almighty. |
in fact, that newsweek poll was not a randomized poll at all, it was a webpage for anyone to answer at the daily beast

Things take time. Give bitcoin long enough and wait for people to develop new technologies. The future is bright. |

Maybe I'm underestimating my fellow Americans - but I don't believe the same 42% of those Americans who know what Bitcoins are were culled from the same pool that shows 28% of Americans can't name the US Vice President. I would, however, believe that 42% of Americans who are subscribed to Bloomberg.com would know what a Bitcoin is. As for Newsweek Are they still around? |

but 3 people in my family have asked me about bitcoins since thanksgiving, including my mom. i reminded her i had mentioned them to her a long time ago and she couldn't have cared less at that time, now she wanted to know what all the hubbub was about! it's all media hype. but so is politics. why the media hype over bitcoins is embraced more than the media hype of the vp is a head scratcher, perhaps people can't be bothered with politics these days, as much of a clusterfuck that is. also, it doesn't appear that that newsweek poll was scientifically randomized, it appears it was a webpage anyone could access and answer the questions. |
small bump down the road. it will get up eventually.

All currencies are traded to buggery, BTC will drop to about 380/400 over the next few days as the people that have made bank decide to sell out before Christmas. 2014 will see 3000$ a coin minimum

42% are you fucking kidding me. I already did two real polls to ask if they would ever use it to pay.. well close to that and just over 300 people total took the time to pick the answer that said "what is bitcoin" and the next option had 8 people pick it.
You do the math |
it's lolz watching some of y'all get antsy in the pantsy @ that 42%!
not sure why that's so disturbing to ya but it's funny :1orglaugh |
