Of course there is a cover up. This was one of the worst disasters ever, and it was swept right under the rug as if everything is under control and there is nothing to worry about.

Think about it, what can they say? "Hey everyone, you're fucked. Sorry." That won't fly, so they say it's OK. Not to mention the legal ramifications of admitting to everything.

They say that every person on the planet carries a detectable amount of radiation from Chernobyl (it seems each reactor / warhead has a fairly unique signature, so this can be measured)

As a side note, The Chernobyl Diaries was a pretty good (scary) movie

I didn't care for it that much... I thought the ending was weak... and they spent too much time running around in the town of chernobyl and not nearly enough time at the actual reactor. I was really hoping for some insane radiation-glowing super monsters, still living scientists still trying to control the reaction, a brad new explosive threat, mutants like The Hills Have Eyes - but Russian, etc....the movie didn't deliver any of that.

Yeah, but I'm a Modern Warfare fan and have spent time crawling around the radiation zone and being a sniper at the base of the Ferris wheel, etc. so it was a nicely familiar scene...

And yet governments around the world are pushing full steam ahead with the creation of more nuclear power plants. It's absolutely insane!

Experts keep on saying it's one of the safest forms of power, yeah until something goes wrong and then it becomes the most dangerous!

We should be investing time and money on finding ways to use less power, not more!
