SOmetimes what's private now wasn't before and it's recorded. PM me the domain if you don't have access to that.

http://centralops.net/co/DomainDossier.aspx
http://web.archive.org (looking on the records for emails, contactforms, ...)
contact the registrar and see, if they have a paid service to unveil the whois data (common in backorder or sales service)
maybe trademarks are registered, so check the databases

Type in google whois domain.com -if owner had open whois for some time there is a chance how it got archived by one of many whois sites.

True, but between archive.org, domain history and a few other tricks most people, even if trying to hide themselves, leave a paper trail
