Those guitars are ok... how much for 2 of the ladies?

EMG is a hit or miss, too. Some guitars and amp setups, they are great.. some.. just too hot of an output and brittle sounding. Really depends.. If you are into blues and texas rock type stuff, the current pickups in that guitar will do you just fine and dandy but if you need more hotness on your output, a simple boost pedal will be sufficient. hint: Check out EHX Analogizer. Has up to 26db of boost and smoothens out the trailing sound for a nice and beautifully warm melodic clean/mild breakup sound |

well, hrmm, zzounds is now showing a blemished black cherry tribute lp marked down to 449 shipped. from what i've gathered, those blemished models aren't so blemished.
that's a heck of a value. even with a little blemish. |

If its factory blemish... well.. It would have to be quite minor for it to leave the factory.. very very minor. Myself.. Im all over the fucking place now.. I dont know what I want anymore.. so many options.. so many good and bad reviews for everything and the one with 5 star reviews across the whole board is the only one I cant put my hand on to try and see if I like it. getting into gibsons, the pickup and neck differences between different model types is overly too complicated and also, there's a bad rep of poor craftmanship. It's 50/50. Either A+ or d- in this price range. For the PRS, the construction is flawless and the pickups are all the same ones and has a shitty bridge pickup anyways, so no decision worry there.. cause it will need upgrading before any of them even go out the door anyways. So I can tailor to any pickup sound I want. Burst neck, 57 bridge. Maybe what I will do is go to town Sat and see if they can order it in for me anyways and if I can bring it back towards a different model after holidays if I dont like it. |

Here's a pretty good shot of the PRS. http://mintesfiles.com/gfy/prs_se_santana.JPG |

aren't the reviews hilarious? there's usually a ton that start with "i've never owned that guitar but i'm pretty sure it's not as good as any of mine...." or "it's mik/mim/mij/mii/not made in milwaukee,memphis/kalamazoo/etc. so it has to be bad. then most all the others have a paragraph+ with the reviewer's resume of years playing and guitars owned/played at the shop. it always cracks me up, but i guess the good news is the return policy with the majors is super solid and shipping back is nominal really, plus being able to give a new guitar a whirl at home is so much more better than fighting to be able to hear yourself at the guitar center. lol. re: gibsons, tbh, the only ones i really really want are ones that are stunningly beautiful- a figured-top es-335 and a aaaaa quilted top lemon les paul. both crazy expensive. http://www.hotmusicollection.com/wp-...s-Finish-8.jpg http://www.jetenginesound.com/LPElegant97Q1.jpg excluding vintage. of course. :pimp |

Picked this one up a few weeks ago locally. A 72 reissue. This really brings back memories because I owned a 72 exactly like this for a few years when they were original. It's one of those I wish I had never gotten rid off.

aren't those wide range humbuckers killer? had one ony my ps 72 neck w/ an enforcer bridge, both really cool, i've learned the wide range has a rich history too. |
You are making me want to be a right handed guitarist. Im a lefty and my choices are so limited.

imo, there is not much design room left for guitars. the be all end all of shapes is the stratocaster, can't get much more classic beauty than that. head stocks are the same, gibson open book and fender's curved 6 inline pretty much covered it. the prs is just a abstract variation on gibbie's open book headstock. seems like most designs these days are tweaked variations on the classics. |

Although, Dean did make one sexy looking guitar here

Picked it up, strummed a few chords, did a few riffs and ended up leaving with this:
2013 Les Paul Studio - Wine red Mahogany body with Solid Carved Maple top Mahogany neck with slim, fast ’60s-style profile Coil-tapped 490R and 498T humbucking pickups in the neck and bridge (will upgrade these) Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece TonePros™ vintage style tuners with 14:1 tuning ratio For it being a weight-relief design, it's sure some heavy. Sustains a loooong ass time, too. http://filipinapussypatrol.com/gibso...o_wine_red.jpg http://filipinapussypatrol.com/gibso...wine_red_2.jpg http://filipinapussypatrol.com/gibso...wine_red_3.jpg http://filipinapussypatrol.com/gibso...wine_red_4.jpg |
dang, that's a looker, what is it? details?

I'm really happy with it. |
oh, right on, did you gety the mini etune?
|
what do those pickups sound like in single coil mode? do they twang? is it straty or p-90y?
|
Quote:
The coil-tap is not quite straty.. more like a p90 actually, still sounds good though. Hard to tell difference in distortion mode though. It's a pretty hot pickup even in single mode. I cant get over how good the neck and frets feel on this. |

i think it looks fucking far out with the pickguard too eh. |
