mb is nice, expensive for a one off but worth it.
tubeace is a bastard to skin, alot of templates to edit, but works well.
wp themes, there are some decent ones out there, which with a good tech, optimizing your stuff can handle the traffic.Comment

I own both MechBunny & SmartTubePro, I've never used MechBunny (why ? I don't know) and now I'm very happy with STP (great support, great functions).

WordPress because it's extremely customizable and extendable. No one special tube script can beat WordPress with all these themes and plugins developed for it.
For example.- Which exactly specialized tube script and process (parse) any free-formatted XML feed?
- Which exactly specialized tube script can automatically spin your video titles and descriptions and/or translate them to other languages?
- Which exactly specialized tube script allows to use any FLV/MP4 player by your choice?
- Which exactly specialized tube script can automatically post your video links among with descriptions to Twitter and similar social networks?
- Which exactly specialized tube script can automatically post your video thumbnails to adult pinboards like sex.com and similar?
There is a ton of other extremely useful things that you can easily do with WordPress-based tube but can't with specialized scripts. The WordPress engine is being maintained/extended by 1000's of people around the Globe, so it can't be beaten by any specialized script

making a wordpress tube site is possible, you can make it look really nice and easy to use but, wordpress is not built for high traffic websites I doubt it can handle 50,000+ UV per dayWordPress because it's extremely customizable and extendable. humm... wordpress sites actually get heavier and heavier to more you add to them and a webmaster can't really have a website that loads in 4-8 secs :/
I would suggest to go for avs as well.

Your doubts are unjustified. Check this out: http://wordpress.org/plugins/really-static/ - this freeware plugin will hide the real WP installation dir and will copy all the pages to the new location as raw HTML files. So your visitors will deal with static pages only, and there will be ZERO load on PHP and MySQL. Do you know any specialized tube script which can do that? No!
This is one more argument for WordPress, because it's more secure (try to hack static HTML files ;)) and is able to handle much more serious traffic.
There is no alternative to WordPress, actually

I/we have a few Wordpress based sites that generally sustain 40,000 to 60,000 uniques per day, with occasional peaks to much higher per day. They are not tubes, but do include some videos.
WP can be fairly efficient once you employ caching, a reasonably powerful dedicated server, sufficient RAM, and reduce/eliminate 3rd party plugins as much as possible. But out of the box and using a bunch of plugins, I don't think WP would be exactly efficient on higher traffic sites. Certainly it needs to be tweaked and the hardware/technical setup sufficient to scale to the traffic load.Last edited by robwod; 12-15-2013, 08:37 AM.NSFWComment
