I did not start this post on a whim, I thought long and hard about bringing this to the boards. Even spoke at length with another established shooter that was very helpful at took time to provide some wise counsel. I knew full well making it public could hurt my chances of ever seeing money owed. I also knew there was a chance it could open up a huge can of worms for ATK, not my intention, but I was left with few options.

As a follow up I did (finally) receive an email from Kim on Friday apologizing and assuring me that a "payment" was hopefully forthcoming. I've heard this before and want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I, and apparently others, have been down this road before.

Was busy over the weekend and am just getting a chance to catch up on this thread and I have to say it is a lot to digest. I too have always enjoyed good relations with Kim and enjoyed working for them over the past decade, but of late, there is a marked change in the way they do business. I am hoping Kim can turns things around, I never like to see anyone do bad in business.

I appreciate the support form those that have chimed in and thanks to BMB and Jim for sharing. Two shooters who I have always respected in this industry. I, like Jim, know of others and am hooping we all get what is owed to us.

i met Kim in my first couple years in the biz...took me out, treated me to lunch and taught me lot about how to run a successful members website. it is disappointing to see things like this happen so i hope it all works out for the best. cheers.

Wow! Not sure about others but their are some brands that I thought were immune to the goings on in the industry. Sorry to see this as these guys were golden back in the day.

Wanted to post an update to my situation. Since starting this thread, Kim contacted me and made good on a partial payment. About a third of what is owed, no info as to if/when I can expect the balance due.

I have received a few emails from others in a similar situation. Hopefully everyone will get taken care of. I will keep everyone posted in this thread until I am paid in full. I would encourage others to chime in as well.

Perhaps the DOZEN ATK shooters here alone on GFY, not counting the other DOZEN not here, can chime in and mention something to the contrary.

Most of the other producers not posting are probably afraid of not getting paid eventually if they join the chorus. In fairness I should update since my earlier diatribe a couple of months ago and report that I personally got a few partial payments so far. Hoping to collect the rest in 2014.

Your thread title says "ATK not paying some of it's shooters" when the truth is this is a billing dispute with one shooter.

So you started your thread with a lie in it's title.

This pretty much says it all for me right there. A photographer I've never heard of is bashing a company I've done business with on multiple levels for a decade and I've never had a problem with.

I don't have a dog in this, but I have a friend who didn't get paid for work done. He chalked it up as a loss and and learning experience. As a result, won't ever do work without payment 1st.


I never say anything when it doesn't concern me, but when a Vet like Jim Gunn chimes in, it gets real really fast.


I won't bash or talk about things I know nothing about, but Im guessing its issues with collections and a state of our business.

I do believe if ATK had the money read ally available, shooters would be paid, but I feel that companies make less and have less.

Glad you have had positive dealings with them. As did I for ten years prior to my posting. I think I made my reticence on bringing this public apparent.

I also had it on good authority at the time of posting some shooters were getting paid and some were not, so I think my title was dead on. The fact that others chimed in and even more sent me emails directly further supports my title.

Rochard, I like you and all as far as I know you from the shows and such. But you're totally out of line here. Your personal experience as an affiliate or whatever is completely irrelevant. It seems like you didn't even read the thread up to this point. Because if anything the original poster understated the problem as he wrote it. There are at least three producers in this thread alone who posted their own tales of woe and believe me there are more out there still silently seething.

Based on the feedback I got a couple of months ago after my diatribe here on the board and via phone calls that I received from people that had never previously called me in my life at the time, I think most people rightly believed every single word I said too. I provided my follow up earlier that I have indeed gotten some payments so far, but the issues are ongoing for me and others even at this point as we are about to cross into a new year.

Wanted to update this thread as I mentioned I would keep everyone informed.

As of last week, my remaining balance has been paid in full. Again I would like to say how difficult it was to bring this to the boards after a 10+ year relationship, but in my case it appears to have helped.

I am still getting emails and phone calls that others are still dealing with this and I wish them well, hopefully this post and the social media blasts will help them as well.

I was pleasantly surprised at how many respected industry players pulled me aside at Internext last week to ask me about this debacle. Made me feel good about my reputation that even people who hardly know me but know the other party well seemed to believe every word I had written too. I wouldn't be surprised if the ramifications of this are going to last well beyond settling up.

Anyway, in fairness I should also update- I've been getting smallish payments every week or two for the last four months. I'm still owed nearly $8500 as of today though. Just waiting it out until it all gets paid off.

ATK owes me several thousand dollars and I've been wating over 4 months-- Very bad communication-- Hope I get paid some day
