jones vs tyson?

now i would love to see that. from listening to this ruiz fight, jones seems like a legit heavyweight, but he's short.

i think tyson would match up well with jones. they're both under 6 feet so jones might be the only guy with less reach than tyson in the heavyweight division.

jones should beat him, but i think tyson could get inside on him to throw a big punch.

nah... Tyson has NO juice...

you saw it with Lewis... first round was good... then he looked like an old grandma...

To be interesting... Tyson would have to miraculously become sane... train like a mad man, get in the best shape he ever was... then.. just then... it might be interesting....

I would personally like to see Jones Vs Tua !

Jones Vs Lewis will never happen... Lewis would kill him....

Ruiz was completely outclassed. That fight was all Jones. I still don't think he's a legit heavyweight though. As was already said, I think a real heavyweight champ like Lewis would kill him.

lewis' reach advantage frustrated tyson. jones wouldn't have that advantage over tyson.

jones is under 6 feet and under 200, you can't compare a heavyweight to jones. jones is a light heavyweight in the 170sh class. pound for pound he could be the best boxer ever.

I totally agree. Jones would never be able to take the power of Tyson or the size of Lewis. He's just too light and too small. He's got mad skills, but let's not forget, Tyson is short for a heavyweight, but he's still in the 220lbs. range and still retains some of that legendary punching power to knock out just about anyone at any time. And forget about Lewis. He's just too big and strong for Jones.

Jones would be insane not to take a fight with Tyson. Jones has made alot of money but never the kind of money he could get from a Tyson fight. This fight would make more money than Tyson/Lewis II. Americans because Lewis bolted Canada and put on that phoney English accent have never been much interested in him. Jones being an American and undersized would be a huge people's choice against Tyson. The worst that could happen to him is that Tyson knocks him out, Jones walks away with 10 million dollars. Tell me anybody here who wouldn't get knocked out for 10 million dollars? Don't think so.

Lennox might be the one who loses out here, he wants to retire but one more huge 15-20 million dollar payday for batting around Tyson a second time is hard to resist. If the boxing powers decide it's Tyson/Jones that will make more money Lennox will have nobody to fight, i don't think he wants to fight that Russian.
If Jones wins, say goodbye to a Lewis/Tyson rematch, that will be it for Tyson finally. And no way will Jones go in the ring against Lewis, and i don't blame him, just too big a size differential.

Jones a Heavyweight? Hahahahah Ya right. Ruiz is barely the heavyweight to talk about. Jones has NEVER been hit by a real Hweight. Oh ya and that PAPER title that Ruiz held means nothing. I am no fan of Tyson but be honest withyourself and realize if Tyson was "normal" and in shape a Tyson-Jones fight would last 3 rounds max. Or any real heavyweight for that fact. Jones has just outclassed anyone in the 170's class and has looked outside his realm. Getting very lucky along the way not finding anyone with some real power. If he was to do this shit 5 years ago when there was a legitimate heavyweight class he would stand no chance.

Tyson does have a lot of power. If Jones could stay away from him for a round or two, he might have a chance, but all it would take would be for one good punch to land.

And Tua... he's probably the hardest punching heavyweight there is. He'd launch Jones out of the ring.

I'll tell you the perfect match-up that I'd like to see: Tua vs. Tyson. Now THAT would be a fight. They're probably the two hardest hitting heavyweights, and they're both short. They both had the exact same problem against Lewis - they're probably a bit better than Lewis, but they just couldn't get inside because of his long monkey-reach. Tua's actually my favorite heavyweight. I think he'd kill Tyson.

lucky? he's beaten the best in 3 weight classes and moved up because there was no competition. tyson would have to drop weight to fight jones, tyson is more of a natural 210sh fighter. that would give him his speed back which could be enough to knock out jones. i don't know if jones has the power to knock out tyson. ruiz has power, he knocked down holyfield and he has one of the best chins in boxing.

it would be the most interesting fight for jones because there's nobody in his weight class that is worth fighting.

$100...? mmmh.. illegal cable hookup sounds more and more interesting....

As for Tyson... didnt saw the Ethienne fight... but he's old, no juice... crazy... he is too unpredictable...
Could tyson beat holyfield? and holyfield got his ass kicked by Ruiz....
and Chris Bird is no match... similar to Jones... he started in middle weight or light heavyweight... then eat couple of burgers and got into heavyweight... Jones would smoke him!

Jones Vs Tua or Rahman ....

I would LOVE to see that fight! I've been a Byrd fan for a long time and the amount fo skill he has and being smaller... it would make for a heavyweight version of Mosley vs. De La Hoya. That was a punchfest.

Roy Jones is a great fighter but he would ZERO chance against Tyson. First off, Tyson is a far better fighter than Ruiz, even in decline. Much faster (his handspeed is close to Roy's, if not as good) and much much stronger with far better skills. Second, Roy would never be able to hurt Tyson, who has a granite chin, but Mike shot's would be far too powerful for Roy to take. Insane to even think about that matchup. Tyson detonates big heavyweights when he lands clean, he'd knock Roy thru the ropes if he hit him on the arm.

Roy knew what he was doing when he took on Louise, but he's not crazy.

Also Holyfield really won 2 out of 3 against Lousie, he got robbed in one of those decisions. Holy was a younger, better fighter when he fought Tyson and Holy is considerably bigger than Jones. Roy wouldn't consider taking on Holyfield in his prime and maybe not even now. Ruiz would have been murdered by Holyfield if he had met him in his prime.

it's well known in the boxing world that Louise is a joke, and he was going to go down hard in the first fight where the ref didn't allow him to jab and grab and fake groin shots every time he got hit in the body (i.e. the first time he had to fight somebody without fellow Peurto Rican Joe Cortez as the referee).

Size matters in boxing, the only reason Roy could do what he did is because Ruiz couldn't hit him clean and wasn't allowed to maul him, and Ruiz doesn't hit that hard in the first place except with his head and elbows.

Tyson is rusty and on the decline but he's far more versatile than Tua, who really only has a left hook and is on the downside of his career himself. He showed a right hand against Oquendo, but that doesn't mean a lot. Tyson can kill you with either hand with any punch.

Tyson wouldn't have a chance against Tua. Tyson does NOT have a stone chin (I think I can recall him being knocked the fuck out a couple of times), but name a single time you've ever even seen Tua hurt. He's like a granite statue... nothing fazes the guy.

And as for punching power, again, Tua's power is insane. Tyson has a great punch, but nothing like Tua.

I'd agree that Tyson is faster than Tua, but it would only take a few rounds before Tyson was worn down, and then Tua would take him out.

Tua was hurt badly by Ike Ibeabuchi. No shame in that, Ibeabuchi was a monster before he went to prison. Tua still hung tough and almost took the fight.

Most fight commentators would tell you that Tyson hits harder than Tua, but in practical effect they both hit so hard that it doesn't matter who hits slightly harder.

Tyson took horrible beatings before going down against Douglas and especially against Lewis. He does indeed have a rock jaw.

yep that's true, but the skills don't leave you, they're just harder to use. Things he used to do naturally he now has to think about before doing them and against top top fighters that's just too late. Against second level guys like Ruiz, who never had those skills to begin with, it's enough.

Tyson took horrible beatings before going down against Douglas and especially against Lewis. He does indeed have a rock jaw.
i still think tyson won that fight vs douglas. thats around the time when tyson really went downhill. he just wasn't moving well against douglas. i doubt he was training seriously and he didn't take douglas serious at all. he never really was the same after.

he didn't win that fight lol, he was KTFO on the canvas. Tyson hasn't really trained seriously since he was in his early 20's if you can believe what you read. He can get by most fighters on speed, talent and skill alone but his lack of conditioning and light sparring betrayed him against the A level guys like Holyfield and Lewis. Douglas, on that one night, was a master boxer. He was never able to put it together like that again.

Only Tua and maybe Ray Mercer could have taken the beating Tyson took against Lewis as long as he did.

yeah it's debatable. I think his head was clear and he was ready to get up regardless, he was watching the ref and waiting for him to hit 9 before he got up, but who knows.

Same here. Jones is just too quick on his feet for most heavyweights. Jones will win most of his fights by decision like Byrd does.

Byrd is the fastest heavyweight I have ever seen. Jones and Byrd are almost identical in style. Jones hits harder but Byrd is faster. It would be an awesome fight.

well he's really a middleweight, but he can hang heavyweights because of his speed and ring savvy.

Jones wouldnt face a better heavyweight than ruiz. He only takes things that are for granted that he will win, and jones vs lewis/tyson isnt a sure thing he would win so not likely to happen.
