Tyson took horrible beatings before going down against Douglas and especially against Lewis. He does indeed have a rock jaw.

i still think tyson won that fight vs douglas. thats around the time when tyson really went downhill. he just wasn't moving well against douglas. i doubt he was training seriously and he didn't take douglas serious at all. he never really was the same after.

he didn't win that fight lol, he was KTFO on the canvas. Tyson hasn't really trained seriously since he was in his early 20's if you can believe what you read. He can get by most fighters on speed, talent and skill alone but his lack of conditioning and light sparring betrayed him against the A level guys like Holyfield and Lewis. Douglas, on that one night, was a master boxer. He was never able to put it together like that again.

Only Tua and maybe Ray Mercer could have taken the beating Tyson took against Lewis as long as he did.

douglas had a slow count. i still think he didn't get up in 10 seconds. tyson knocked him the fuck out

yeah it's debatable. I think his head was clear and he was ready to get up regardless, he was watching the ref and waiting for him to hit 9 before he got up, but who knows.

NO WAY is Jones a legit heavyweight!!

:2 cents:

Same here. Jones is just too quick on his feet for most heavyweights. Jones will win most of his fights by decision like Byrd does.

Byrd is the fastest heavyweight I have ever seen. Jones and Byrd are almost identical in style. Jones hits harder but Byrd is faster. It would be an awesome fight.

well he's really a middleweight, but he can hang heavyweights because of his speed and ring savvy.

Rodent 03-03-2003 01:07 AM

Jones wouldnt face a better heavyweight than ruiz. He only takes things that are for granted that he will win, and jones vs lewis/tyson isnt a sure thing he would win so not likely to happen.

Are you on crack? Did you see the powershots Lewis landed on him?

Even Lennox said after the fight that Tyson as a hell of a chin.

Danny_C 03-03-2003 07:58 AM

Lewis doesn't punch like Tua.

Danny_C 03-03-2003 07:59 AM

And by the way, Lewis fought Tua... he won by decision, but only because Tua has short arms and could never get inside. Tua was never hurt a single time in that fight.

You're right. I shouldn't have worded it that way... Tyson does have a good chin. I only meant that in comparison with Tua.

I would still argue that when Tua lands, he has more power than Tyson.

Either way, my money would be on Tua if it came to Tua vs. Tyson. God, I'd love to see that fight.

no its not new info for me dipshit. ruiz is a real heavyweight, didn't look fake to me. he's a second tier heavyweight and there's only about 3 real boxers in the heavyweight division. they're all pretty big guys that can hit fairly hard. fighting those guys would be suicide for someone of jones' size.

you're telling me jones couldn't hang with byrd, johnson, etc? i think he can and its pretty impressive.

FlyingIguana 03-03-2003 10:27 AM

actually there may only be one legit heavyweight. i just seen vitali klitschko lost to byrd. those ukranians could be overrated. no wonder lewis doesn't want to waste his time.

xxxdesign-net 03-03-2003 10:29 AM

bah... lets all forget about Jones fighting heavyweights...

Jones doesnt like to get hit... he KNEW that he would smoke Ruiz... thats why he fought him...

Thats also why we will never see Jones in a real fight... (equaly matched, 50/50 chance of winning)...

The only heavyweight Jones might fight is Tyson... for massive money and exposure...

He said it himself in his last interview after the fight...

mmmh, that was 3 years ago... Vitali has greatly improved since...

Lewis is afraid of fighting a REAL heavyweight....

Tyson, Ruiz, Hollyfield, Tua, Byrd... are all small heavyweight...

Very soon... you'll see 2 heavywight categories...

and Lewis didnt do much with the Big heavyweights... :2 cents:

i think lewis should fight wladimir next. lewis does do well against smaller guys, but i don't think those ukranians can beat him. vitali should come to the states and fight someone with a name and not nobody's in germany

Exactly... Lewis can beat this guys, most of whom (in my opinion) are better boxers, simply because his of his ape-reach. They just can't get in. When most of these fought Lewis, they kept hitting air a foot in front of Lewis's face, and that was leaping forward.
