Congress' Approval Rating 5% -- Obama's 37%

Obama for the win @37%?

Quote:
http://bostonherald.com/news_opinion...me_in_shutdown

Most Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job, the poll suggests, with 53 percent unhappy with his performance and 37 percent approving of it. Congress is scraping rock bottom, with a ghastly approval rating of 5 percent.

Indeed, anyone making headlines in the dispute has earned poor marks for his or her trouble, whether it's Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, or Republican John Boehner, the House speaker, both with a favorability rating of 18 percent.

And much of the country draws a blank on Republican Ted Cruz of Texas despite his 21-hour Senate speech before the shutdown. Only half in the poll were familiar enough with him to register an opinion. Among those who did, 32 percent viewed him unfavorably, 16 percent favorably.
This is akin to collective political suicide. So far, the FOREX, securities and equities markets have acted in restraint but if a real default should occur there will be a real shitstorm. This is a game of chicken that will be remembered for a long time.

Even Conservative Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says:

Quote:
http://www.newsmax.com/newswidget/sc...0/07/id/529682

"When I was first in Washington and even in my early years on this court, I used to go to a lot of dinner parties at which there were people from both sides. Democrats, Republicans . . . It doesn?t happen anymore.?

That was started with Newt and snowballed from there. Also you get elected based on I wont work with the black devil you have painted yourself in the corner. Thats why the right is for something, obama says good idea and then they are against it. They blame him for not working with them and he has righties in his administration that he picked. The ACA isnt single payer because he wanted it the right to like it so they picked the dole plan to run with. He is GOP lite but they got elected based on him being the enemy they cant do anything and compromise isnt do it our way.

I guess you could look at it with that statistic. If you want a better more realistic picture, that is, if your goal is not just to express amazement and wonder over how stupid republicans are with other like-minded people, you might read this non-partisan poll.

Partisans Dug in on Budget, Health Care Impasse

Note that 77% of republican voters and 40% of independents think that Obama should back down, and 75% of dems and 43% of independents think that the republicans in the house should back down.

That is usually who votes for republicans congresspeople. So there you go.

There's nothing for Obama to "back down" on. The whiney babies in congress are just throwing themselves on the floor and crying for something that everyone, including themselves, know that they can't have. It's established law, it was debated, voted on, signed into law, challenged in the courts, won the challenges, an election was held, Obama won. Back down? lol, why??

Anyway, good luck to all. Gerrymandering sure produces some nuts.

You clearly come down on the side of Pres Obama. The trouble is, if you look at the poll, 88% of tea party republicans want repubs to do what they are doing. 88 + 63/2 = 75.5 yet 77% back the republican course ... that means that over half are self identified tea party repubs! Apparently the congresspeople in question feel they are supported by their constituencies (or forced, to look at it another way).

Either case, it is easy to see with things like:

"Liberals make me sick" (stereotyping - bumper sticker)
"Bros before Hos!" (anti-Hillary slogan)
"Teabaggers!" (pejorative)
"Obama will put martial law in place on August 13th 2013" (propaganda)
"Go to hell, Boehner" (personal attack - democratic party mailing)
"Whiny babies in congress" (pejorative - what you just said)

how shit got so polarized.

I think the left is simply got tired of the attacks and for the most part have been dragged done to the same level. You see It here constantly from the usual suspects where it's evil liberal this liberal that. They have to be somewhat restrained here because it's a place many do business.. However go to any gun forum or any other place that has a community that leans to the right and you will see how hateful they are. It's goes from liberals are the anti Christ and socialist evil empire BS to Jew bashing and racism vs anyone that isn't white.

Simply put the right hates anything that isn't 100% the same as them.. This is why I give it right back to them to any of the usual suspects here on the forum that always throw back to liberal this liberal that. Liberal to the right equals same thing as calling a black person hahahahahaha. They use it in the same context hence the reason anyone I see here that uses that tone, I give it right back to them.

The tea party is just the public extreme side of this, but it all started from the so called religious right.. At least that's when I first really started to see the hate mongering getting started. No big surprise to me that guys like Ted Cruz are part of the extreme Religious right, he is from the extreme religious sect that is trying to take over the govt to push biblical law..

Look into his background.. Any so called moderate Republican that could vote for that guy is a fool.

The entire problem is the gerrymandered districts which brought crazy nuts pushing the right over the right edge of the world. YES of course those same people want the government shutdown because they ran on opposing everything that Obama and anyone else with half a reasonable brain would want to get done. What gives their crazy representatives the BALLS to do that is the fact that their districts are so white, so right, so far off the average American that they aren't afraid of losing THEIR OWN elections next time. That's the one and ONLY reason they are supporting this idiocy of government shut down when there is not even anything to negotiate! It's pure hostage taking and luckily even stupid people can see it.

Go ahead and check the link where Boehner says out of his own mouth that they had a deal that cut 50 billion or more out of the budget but decided for no reason to fuck us all because they can't stop whining about Obamacare as if it's the end of the world. All due to gerrymandering and the terrible laws we have regarding redistricting.

I still can't get over the Congress' agreeing to pay the furloughed Federal workers for sitting at home on their ass!

They are not really interested in budgetary savings that is obvious. They are interested in playing gamesmanship with the opposing party and the Democrat Administration.

The only way we can reduce the debt is by growing out of it. More people working more people paying taxes.

I just came back from Greece I saw for my own eyes how austerity spending works. We need responsible spending and that spending to be for domestic interests -- that will increase employment with REAL jobs of the future toward creating a new class of technology sector employment. These are the jobs of the future.

Unskilled labor is now sourced off-shore and that will not change unless we resort to protectionist laws and the last time we did that the recession became the Great Depression of the 1930's -- Mistake.

I watched the hour long I blame the republicans speech by Barry, he kept saying the doom and gloom like he did for the sequester which didn't do anything really.

If Barry wants to bring the two parties together, he should try a different approach, like that of a leader

Barry has been giving companies what the GOP wants to give to the people.
Have you seen the deductibles on Obamacare?

If Barry thinks it's so good, he should join it, right?

think about that

More jobs is reason enough to support Obamacare.. Just in FL alone one insurance company hired 1000 new employes to cover all the new people that will have insurance. That's just one company..

Now think on the other end where there will be tons of new jobs created on the treatment side because of...you guessed it more people getting medical treatment due to now having insurance.

It's more jobs every way you look at it.. Even walmart back out of their claims of laying people off..

A 5% approval rating for Congress... Once we hit this point we need to think about having new elections.

How is this the President's fault? All they need to do is call a vote and this is over with, no need for negotiation at all. This is the Republicans in Congress blackmailing the United States.

Leave it to a borderline retard like you to think defaulting on our debt won't "do anything really".
