So what?
Everyone non-essential government related should be furloughed if civilian, and not paid if a politician. That includes everyone in the Pentagon, Congress, and any other government branches. All of these cake eaters should feel the pain of their politicians and perhaps a few more people will vote or take an interest into the crazies in office next time around.
If they want to play silly reindeer games for 4-8 weeks, they should feel the pain of that decision themselves with no paycheck. Congress should be completely unpaid anytime they do not pass a budget, raise debt ceiling, or alike. It's that simple. They also should not have special healthcare plans or exceptions. They are no better than the citizens and should feel the same pains as the rest of the country.

If this continues then a lot of people will be laid off and lose their health insurance from their job.
They will then have to find a cheap health insurance plan that they can afford.

Have you seen the video of the congressman bashing the park ranger for not letting people into the WW2 memorial in Wash. DC?
With the shutdown the memorial is closed. A park ranger is there to make sure nobody climbs the fences to get in. A congressman comes up to her and tells her that she should be ashamed of herself for not letting people in. She is polite to him, but then someone else in the crowd tells the congressman that she is just doing her job and that this is the fault of the people who can't pass a budget (meaning the senator) suddenly the senator has nothing to say and hauls ass out of there.Last edited by kane; 10-06-2013, 05:55 PM.Comment

That stunt is part of their game plan.
I really hope there's not an agreement to open the government back up one piece at a time. It should be all or nothing.
The Republicans do have a strategy, but it should be obvious to any half-witted person what they're doing. Firstly, they carry 99% of the blame for shutting down the government, when you consider the FACT they couldn't pass funding until they abolished, or delayed a healthcare law that's already a LAW. It exists now, and that's it.
We've mostly seen it in movies, but in a hostage situation, the captor will release a hostage every few hours to prolong the situation until they can figure out a way to escape. And why not sneak in a photo op now and then? You can try to look like a hero who gives a shit about the people whose lives your playing with(like the park ranger thing). The president should stick to his guns until those stupid fuckers start eating each other in the aisles. Don't give them a damn thing. Let the blame from the public go on them (like it already is doing), and hopefully most of them will get voted out of their seats in 2014.

They are already opening parts back up. They announced that 200,000 people that work for the defense department have had their status changed so they are no essential personnel and will be going back to work tomorrow.
Also there have exceptions signed that say that those who are off work will get full back pay when the shutdown ends. So while they are out of work right now, essentially they are getting a paid vacation.Comment

It cost them more to put barricades up, on something that shouldn't be shut down?
They even tried to put a guard on something else that they tried to shut down,b ut it was privately owned.
They want to delay MAKING people signup for one year. People who WANT to signup can do so now.
They also want politicians to go on the plan and not be exempt...

Anyway, if you consider not funding say Veterans, because it is releasing one hostage at a time. Don't fucking cry Veterans are not getting paid whenever that 2 week or monthly cycle hits.
Both sides have Passed PLANS, Both sides have declined them.
