I forget what his name was here, but he always posted ways to get shit for free or rip shit off... I always laughed as I thought the same thing but would never tell anyone my secrets... until NOW!

My friends make fun of me for this, but they always ask "how" when I get away with free stuff, upgrades or credit back on my cable bill. I've mastered this "skills" over the past few years and I don't consider it cheating, but merely "beating the system."

Since Verizon Wireless straight up fucked me with my contract now, I want to even the score, so for those of you that have the service here in the states, feel free to abuse


How to keep a never ending warranty

I don't know about other phones besides Apple, but they come with a 1 year warranty, then your SOL. Before your warranty is up, call VZ and complain about issues on your phone. Tell them it keeps dropping calls (you have to have people call you then hang up, they will check) or that you can't connect to their service.

Do this a few times, they keep really good notes on their end then demand to speak to a "supervisor" from tech support. They will often have you do some BS entry level testing like reset your phone, etc. but say you are in a rush. I usually call about 30 minutes before they close, no one likes to work at the end of their shift, but always tell them you don't have time.

Tell them you are leaving to go out of town in three days and can they please offer a replacement device. In most cases, they will say yes and ship you one out two day FedEx. You just ship your old one back and POW! the clock starts over again

OR... in the U.S. you could simply pull your gun, hold it to the phone dealer's head, and make him sign off on the extended warranty and keep his mouth shut if he knows whats good for him.

After getting burned too many times with extended warranties - these days I won't even consider them.

The final straw time - we took out an extended warranty plan to have our cellphone batteries replaced each year. At the end of the first year we went in to get new ones...and were told by the company (Rogers) that they'd sold the warranty contract to Circuit City (The Source here in Canada) and we'd have to go there. We'd never been notified.

So we went to The Source.

The Source people knew nothing about it. Sent us back to Rogers. We went back and forth several times and got nothing but bullshit run-around. Fed up, we finally raised such a loud stink in Rogers, the manager gave us two entirely new phones just to get us out of the store.

We left Rogers a short time later and went (back) to Telus (even though I hate and despise Bell).

That's way too much work.

Perhaps if you invested that kind of effort into working, you would make enough money to buy two new phones.

I don't think its as much about the extended warranty as its about you getting a brand new phone every year.Its kinda the same as extending the warranty.
