Hmm. Place as described, in the contrary, would usually be considered as a fit for rough manly man. Just saying :2 cents:

I will be heading to Bangkok in 2/3 weeks also and will stay in Thailand 3 or 4 months. Maybe Cambodia, Philippines or Vietnam also.

I was thinking to start in Bangkok and than to the direction of Phuket, cause on the other site (Koh Samui / Koh Chang) it is raining season. But what can people recommend me? I liked Koh-Chang very much last year and Koh Samui 9 years ago. This time i want to go to Chiang Mai, though i don't like to stay inlands but prefer beaches.

There are a lot of dating industry people now in Thailand, maybe we must start a Bangkok Meeting. I will meet at least 7 persons. Maybe we can meet Bryan and have a drink, that will be number 8.

Chiang Mai and surrounding areas are nice late Oct - late Jan. Rent a car, head to a small town called Pai, the scenery along the way is really nice. The north is nice for 4 - 5 days of relaxing. They also grow poppies in the mountains so opium is easily bought, along with weed. Just don't get caught. :upsidedow

Right now Thailand is getting hit with a typhoon and a lot of areas are flooding. So make sure you spend some time looking into what ends up under water before you come. Bangkok might end up flooding again.

If you want beaches, hit the small, less visited islands. The big islands are tourist traps in every sense of the word.

If you want a real SE Asian holiday that isn't full of over developed, scamming crap holes, hit Laos or Burma. Thailand is cool if you want to screw whores or hit more remote areas / islands, but Laos and Burma are where you want to be right now. See them before they get ruined too.

I've been to Thailand many times - I suggest getting out to the Islands rather than staying in Phuket central. Very touristy and lots of 100 year old men walking around with young girls (disturbing). Unless thats what you a re going for I would head straight for the Islands as they arent quite as bad. You will absolutely love it there - people are super freindly and the beaches are amazing. If you dive you'll have a blast - if not get certified while there.

Yes, i heard Pai is the 'Hippie Village' that must be nice and i am in the good season for that. Looking into Burma and Laos. But there must be good internet, i am working/ scripting and not having a holiday for 4 months :) I didn't like Krabi much when i was there some years ago.

And yes, i will hit Pattaya first after Bangkok. For meeting people offcourse, noting else!

i spent 3 weeks in Nai Harn/Rawai and i loved it. but we went in April when there were almost no other tourists anymore

there are only 2 clubs there - one more or less opens when the other one closes - makes planning the evening very simple :1orglaugh

first you go to http://laguna-rawai.com/ and then you go to http://www.intophuket.com/icon-nightclub-rawai/

unless both get raided by the police in the same night - then you go home :upsidedow
